Hi everyone, I’m helping a friend choose a o2 mobile contract with a SIM card, and she asked for advice on the difference between two options: one offering speeds of up to 50 Mbit/s and the other up to 300 Mbit/s.

Since I currently use an up to 300 Mbit/s plan from o2 and typically get around 60-70 Mbit/s in real-world usage, I’m wondering if I should advise her to go for the up to 50 Mbit/s option.

Is there a noticeable difference in everyday usage, such as social media, WhatsApp, and similar activities, between these two speeds? Since she’s committing to a 2-year contract, I want to make sure she chooses the right option.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Moin Moin,

I don’t think that you need up do 300 Mbit for text base services.

She could use a flex Tarif the she has the possibility to cancel the contract with 1 month of time.

Thanks for the answer! What do you think about watching videos on YouTube or other platforms? Is 50 Mbit/s still enough for that?

Yes. And with Netflix or Amazon you could download the video.

If you have most of the time 50 Mbit, are you not able to watch YouTube videos?

Choose the option “Monatlich kündbar” so you are able to cancel the contract with in a month!
