You are wrong. For o2 my Home XL via VDSL you need a VDSL router that supports VDSL2 supervectoring (profile 35b), like AVM Fritzbox 7590. The AVM Fritzbox 7490 is therefore not suitable. 
If you want, you can rent a suitable router from o2 at the prices according to the price list - or you can get a suitable router yourself.

Please do not forget to check the o2 DSL availability (click on the small "i"!).

Please note that o2 DSL tariff changes can only be ordered via o2 employees, but not via "Mein o2" or the o2 online store.

If I need to change the router, then I’ll change, but do not know in this case how much I’ve to pay for changing the router. If I need to pay high price for this then I’ll go for “O2 My Home L”. Hope this do not require chaning router!

As already mentioned, the prices for rental routers are listed in the o2 price list. If you read this, you will know how much you have to pay. There is no discount for routers.
