VDSL was activated by a telekom worker who used his devices and assured that the line is working
Bought TP-Link AC1200 - Archer VR300 Modem/Router
connected via TAE-F - DSL cable
Did the set up using the details provided by o2, first choosing 02_VDSL ( uber telekom) then just o2_VDSL
The modem fails to connect to internet
Updated firmware to the latest version, multiple reboots
Same results, dead end
Reviewed all threads on this issue available, no solution worked for
Not planning a phone line, just need the internet, yes, the modem/router product is vdsl compatible and should work.
Was wondering if there is any info that I must provide for o2 like the modem MAC number to authorize something?
Any help before going to the hotline?

Hi, yes to both. The sync is failing, quite obviously haha
Check the VLAN ID should be 7.
Check the Username you have to enter all bevor the @ after the @-Sign.
Check the Passwort best way ist copy and Paste.
Du you get any log? any PPP messages?
It could be that you are “verschalte”.
than you have to call the hotline.

Here you can see all the data available that I have, double checked what you told me, everything is copy-pasted exactly from o2.
On the hotline should I ask for tech support and tell them I am “verschalte”?
There is no dsl sync!
Choose Annex B
If your Username contains a s93 than choos VDSL. if s92 ADSL.

Username contains s93 chose VDSL, annex B, still no sync :(
From where you get the DSL Cable??
Is there a neighbour or friend with working DSL. So that you could test cable and router?
They should get a sync if you line is damaged. Put back all to auto before you test!

I can try, even though it would be wierd since the cable was bought brand new yesterday from S.A.C. NET
The question is will the cables connecting right?
For DSL normal the RJ connector should have the cables in the middle (4/5).
Are U using a splitter?

No splitter, everything is direct. Attaching photos of the cable, as I am not in expertise to understand this from looking at them, but maybe you can see if something is wrong.

This is obviously not a DSL cable. If you have bought a DSL router for the German market, a suitable DSL connection cable with TAE plug is included in the delivery. Please use this cable. If you have bought a device that is not designed for the German market, return it to the seller and buy a device intended for the German market.
Note: The device you mentioned is not listed on the German TP-Link website. So it definitely does not seem to be a device for the German market. On Amazon, this device is explicitly listed with the note "nicht für Deutschland geeignet".

True. Great “IT” shop that gave me this cable when asked for TAE-F to dsl cable. I had to buy the cables becuase the router only has two dsl-dsl cables and no tae-f adapter included, as I think the retail of it is aimed for multiple EU markets. But thank you, going to return the cable, get a proper cable and see if everything is ok.

I know this device is not for Germany. I can only repeat my advice to return the whole device to the seller. It is irrelevant for which market the device is intended, as long as it is not Germany.
I need as the picture shoes
TAE 1 to 4
TAE 2 to 5
or if you have no use for the cable including.
And if you TAE socket has Screwed terminals.
cut one side of the Kabel und put the cable to 1 and 2 with the original line….
For a test it should work.
Ok. For anyone that will get this particular router in the future in Germany:
You will need a TAE - F DSL adapter head and the original two DSL cables that come with router/modem itself.
If you connect those, and in the settings you choose O2_VDSL uber telekom, and enter all your data correctly.
You will have an internet connection!
This main problem is that the router works properly only with a 2pin dsl cable while most tae-f - dsl cables in germany will be 4pins, and if they will be 2 pin, then the dsl cable end won’t fit into your router.
‘In this modern age of technology it is ridiculous how everything still lacks standardization
This router works in germany, just very specific steps are needed.
and don’t cut cables if strangers online think it’s a good solution ( didn’t do it, so was able to return the false cable and get the money back).
Or a router that is design for the German market, that will have included the right cable!

“And if you TAE socket has Screwed terminals.

Problems will come, just a question of time...
And if you know every thing better… Why asking her
Lol, I just shared what worked at the end, I think buying an adapter is safer than cutting cables after all, especially for a regular consumer.
Also the cable you linked won’t be useful for this router, since it is a rj45 and, therefore, too thick for this router, that only has a dsl port for rj11, but a 2pin one, 4pin won’t work. This is the main compatibility issue here, that is why it is reported as not suitable.
However, as mentioned, can be solved via an Tae-F - Rj11 2pin adapter head. After all, this was not a very consumer friendly process and if I were 30 years older I would probably be stuck between o2 hotlines frustrated as hell.
Anyway, thank you for your help, you helped me realize the difference between DSL cables as a person with no background knowledge in these matters, that was really handy, helped understand the root of the problems.
If problems do come, in time, I will make sure to write here.
It is funny that the router is not adapted to Germany according to amazon, however according to TP-LINK it is and therefore major retailers are selling it. This router was bought from a major retailer with an assurance from staff person that it will be just fine lol.
I guess, we will see, thank you for your contribution.
Hello @pogchamp ,
first of all it’s good to see that you managed to find a solution that worked for you. A fitting adapter is certainly the easier solution for anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable with working on the innards of the TAE.
Thanks to @schluej for the good explanation concerning the cable, which ended up solving the case.
