Hi

I have a DSL internet connection at home from o2 with 100Mbps speed but the wifi speeds are very low due to old router. Since it is a 24 month contract. Is there a possibility for me to swicth to a new contract with Cable technology and higher speed.

Have you checked whether cable is available where you have it?

First check the speed with a lan cable. If you have issues with the wlan it would not be better if you change to cable. What kind of router do you have?

If you using the homebox than try to change the name of the 2,4 or 5 GHz internet. Change the WLAN frequency of the 2,4 GHz network to find a channel with a less traffic.

I have checked the availabilty, I have cable connection at my location. With WLAN the speed varies sometime I get near 100 MBps and sometime I get 10Mbps

Then the DSL connection appears to be working properly. If you are not satisfied with your wifi router, you can at any time buy a compatible device of your choice or rent one from the o2 range for a fee.

Personally, I would simply recommend using a LAN cable instead of a wifi connection. Inexpensive and absolutely reliable high speed.

Hello @RichyAntrio ,

I can only echo what was already said here, try and test the connection using a LAN cable directly plugged into the router. The speed should hopefully be a stable ~100 MBit/s. Then you can decide if you can connect the necessary devices by LAN or consider switching to a different Router. But at the end one also has to say that WLAN is mostly affected by the circumstances around the router, so even with a different model it might not be possible to gain a significantly better WLAN reception.

Kind regards, Sven
