Hello I take strange service to my first connect to O2:
On October 16, I came to the O2 salon and asked to be connected to optics for a lot of money (400 euros for connection) in Berlin. He said that I don’t need a router, since I have my own, but I need a modem from optical to twisted pair. A whole month passed after I connected, during which time a technician from Telecom came once and connected the optical line in the basement with mine. Next, I expected to receive the modem by mail and even possibly the arrival of a technician who would set up the modem. In fact, after connecting the optics, nothing and no one came to me, but today I received a message, your Internet is active, you can use it. What if I have nothing else besides an optical cable? I returned to the salon where I signed the contract and explained the situation. They seemed to understand me, but for half an hour they offered to rent a router that I didn’t need. I stood my ground that I needed a modem. My colleague connected directly to the telecom and was connected in 15 days and provided with a modem. As a result, I was told to buy an optical modem with my own money.
Question: what kind of mess do you have? I am extremely dissatisfied with your service.

What kind of router do you have?
you could use a FRITZ!Box 5590 to connect to fiber directly.
I have router without optical in. Xiaomi Mi AX3600, i sell before in another country optical equipment in big company and of course try to connect if can do it with my current router.

Thank you, i buy it in Amazon, because now I pay for internet, but can use optical internet without any modem. For me very strange why telekom give free modem (on rent time), but O2 can’t do it.
I hope the Xiaomi is able to do VLAN Tagging and PPPoE on the WAN Port.
For example, in Russia they will do (for free) in one day: a master will come and make a hole for the optics lay optical cable connect the modem and configure it.
Here, I repeat, a technician came for 400 euros, with whom we were looking for a panel in the basement, and he just connected my line. That's a lot for nothing.
I hope the Xiaomi is able to do VLAN Tagging and PPPoE on the WAN Port.
Think VLAN Tagging do modem, PPPoE of course - router
Hello @spiteman,
welcome to our o2 Community
I'm sorry that you didn't have a good experience with advice in one of our shops. Of course, it should have been made clear in advance that a fiber optic modem must be purchased separately for routers that do not already have it integrated.
We do not offer separate fiber optic modems, only the Fritzbox 5530 with an already installed modem as a rental device.
I very much regret that there was some confusion here and that you cannot use your new connection immediately.
The installation price (Erschliessungspreis) is calculated proportionately for connections without a term if it is a new connection.
Please let us know if you have any further questions, we will be happy to help you.
Best regards
Giulia

Hello @spiteman,
please take a look to the welcome letter that you should have received by mail a few days ago.
There, the activation is decribed and the translation should read as follows:
Using your own devices To access the Internet, you need either a combination device consisting of a fiber optic modem and router or two individual devices - a fiber optic modem and a router. You have not ordered a fiber optic modem and router or a combination device from o2. We therefore assume that you will use your own fiber optic modem as a stand-alone device or integrated into your own combination device. You must register this fiber optic modem on the date mentioned above. To do this, you need the modem ID that is on your fiber optic modem or combination device. Tip: Write down the ID now. Since you will probably be using your own router or combination device, please also note the following: The router is connected to the fiber optic modem and the combination device directly to the fiber optic socket. Routers or combination devices available from specialist retailers are usually suitable for use on an o2 connection if they are operated with a current firmware version and are VLAN7-capable. Please contact the manufacturer of your router or contact your specialist retailer if you have any questions about the configuration or would like to check in advance whether it can be used on your new O2 connection. To set up internet access you need the following data: Username: XXXXXX Password: XXXXXX After activating the connection, you will find the access data for setting up your telephone connection in the My o2 customer portal at o2.de/mein-o2. In the “Tarif & Optionen” area, select the “Vertrag verwalten” menu item to access the telephony access data for your router.
In order to register in Mein o2 you need your landline number, that you will also find in the welcome letter.
There you can also register the modem ID of your fibre modem (ONT). Otherwise please call the English hotline to submit the modem ID.
I hope this was helpful. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Best regards
Giulia

my router doesn’t have vlan settings - Xiaomi AX3600 (it’s very strange because it’s not very cheap), but i flash it on Openwrt firmware and setup pppoe connection and i think add VLAN 7 interface. All I got was packages coming TX counter inc, but RX counter stay on zero. Connection attempt failed. Unknow error user request It’s very sad, but I don’t see a way out yet, since all I can do is call Aura, who speaks only German, which I don’t understand. I can also go to the salon, but they are unlikely to help there, since I have complex firmware and spend much time on it.
May be simple exit - is get fritzbox or cancel contract :(
i think setup vlan correctly and now have this line in logs

My login start from DSL00****@*** or from 00***?
in my mail i read what my login is DSL00**
also i can’t login into my o2 - doesn’t understand than i need enter
Moin,
for login fill Username dsl*@* as user for PPPoE. Passwort as Passwort. VoIP PIN could be ignored.
VLAN ID is 7?!
for login in Mein O2 you have to register your first Phone number (SIP Rufnummer).

end of story: i buy Huawei Ax3 4xCore and setup it very quickly. Why Telekom use VLAN ID tagging - i don’t know.
