Hi

I am going to switch my current Internet provider (Cable connection) to O2.

My main requirement is to have public IP on my Mikrotik router.

Is it possible with O2 Cable modem to configure Bridge mode with public IP on my router behind Cable modem?

Thanks.

Best regards

Aleks

Moin,

No. There is no public IPv4 available on a O2 cable connection (ds-lite).

Bridge could be a problem if the modem needs an IP, because O2 could only provide one IP!

The O2 cable modem is a FRITZ!Box if you will use the bridge mode, watch above… The FRITZ!Box needs 2 IP!

And the router behind the modem must be able to Handel es-lite (ipv4 over ipv6)!

Hi @schluej

thank you for quick reply.

Ok. Is it possible to configure some port forwarding to reach internal IP behind cable modem?

Thanks again.

Best regards

Aleks

Yes. U can configure a DMZ too with the FRITZ!Box https://avm.de/service/wissensdatenbank/dok/FRITZ-Box-6660-Cable/131_DMZ-in-FRITZ-Box-einrichten/

But U will have a CGNat on ipv4!
