A homebox not rent from O2 will not work.

It is an old one… my friend gave it to me.
Buy a FRITZ!Box 7510 (no 5Ghz WLAN) / 7520 (used from eBay) / 7530 oder 7590.
A homebox not rent from O2 will not work.
If you rent a homebox from O2 you will pay 50€ one time fee, monthly 4€ and 10€ p&p.
So a FRITZ!Box could be the better choice and the FRITZ!Box is the better router!

If I understand you correctly, you have ordered your internet with a cable connection (to be connected to the TV cable socket)? The routers mentioned above are not compatible with it. If you want to rent a router with us, it would be a Fritzbox 6660, especially for cable connections. A Homebox or Fritzbox 7… will not be working with this line.
If you want to rent the Fritzbox 6660 with us, the charges are as follows: 49,99 EUR setup fee and 9,99 EUR for shipment. Additionally, we charge 4,99 EUR monthly rent.
Of course you can also use your own router. Please make sure that it is a cable router that supports at least DOCSIS 3.1.
