o2 6741 telephone deactivated

Hi all,

Its already one week since my technician appointment and still the status shows “Telephonie ist deaktiviert”. The internet, LAN, WLAN, DSL and Info all light up but not the telephone.

Strangely, no person appeared at the described appointment date.

After spending hours of my time on the phone with the service persons and following the described sequence of steps, I have followed everything from a simple power reset to hardware reset. I bought a good-conditioned Homebox 2 6741 and the service person said that I need to have a new router from o2. I received the new router from O2 yesterday and configured it accordingly but the status appears the same. I also tried everything I could see on the forums for related problems, such as https://hilfe.o2online.de/router-software-internet-telefonie-34/festnetztelefonie-laesst-sich-nicht-aktivieren-199956. Nothing seems to work.

It now appears to me that selection of O2 was a very bad decision. First, they force you to buy a new router and then service hotline is of no help except wasting mobile balance.

Any idea what could be wrong?

If you would like to have a homebox u have to rent it from O2!

If you buy a used one you have no phone only internet is working.

Buy a fritzbox 7530 from avm and the phone will work.

Dont forget to send back the router to o2

Hello @Bushra and welcome to our o2 community :-)

If you rent or reieve an o2 Homebox router from us it will be bound to your DSL connection. If you buy a o2 router from someone else it is quite possible that it will not work or only in parts. Especially using a phone will be quite delicate since the router that you bought from someone else is most probably bound to the old DSL connection of the original owner.

If you want to use a router from the free market just ensure that it supports VDSL2 vectoring and IP telephony. Please never buy any router that was a provider device like Homebox, Easybox or Speedport. This devices have firmware that was optimised to work with this providre (or even a special DSL connection) and you will most likely encounter issues if you try to use this devices with an other provider or on an other DSL connection.

Have you already been able to use your phone now with a new router?

Regards,

Lars
