Moving with internet—better to get a new contract?

I am getting an 02 contract handed down to me from my flat mate and I have started the process of getting the account in my name. As I will be moving, I am interested in doing two things:

  1. Downgrading from XL to M
  2. Getting my internet in a new address

So my questions:

  1. Is this possible? Where can I find this option in the menu? Any advantages/disadvantages? If I do this, will I reset my time of the contract? I.e will I have to keep the contract for a minimum of 24 months? (currently I can close the contract any time I want)
  1. Sorry for being unaware, but when I change the address in the “Mein 02” form—will the internet start working in the new place (provided it is covered) or will there be a technician coming to install something?

Thank you!

Okay I know the answer to 2, but still wondering if I change my contract (i.e XL to M) if I will have to keep it for another 24 months

Hello @Internetuser007 ,

if you change your DSL contract, then you’ll get a new runtime of 24 months for the contract, you wouldn’t keep your previous contract duration.

Kind regards, Sven

Great, thanks for the reply. One more thing, in the new place I see that I can only get L (or M, can’t recall right now). I haven’t gone through the move form fully, but is there at some point the option to select which speed I will be going for?

In other news I just realized I have been on XL all this time at my current address with the wrong modem and no fiberoptic, so I could have never got my top speeds 😟
