Internet cable setting up and technician visit.


Hello,

 

I would like to know if Technician will come or not for serting my internet cable installation, so the question is; If I have already access to tv channels through coax and using my TV, would the technician vist be must or the activation of the cable internet request will be automatic and I will be setting up my Fritzbox 6660 on my own?

Welcome to our o2 community.

Did you order a DSL or a cable connection?  Or did you first want to get general information regarding activation?

Generally speaking: In most times a tec guy will come to your place to activate the connection, only in exceptional cases can this be done remotely. 

Have you already received an order confirmation by e-mail? There you will find the information whether a technician will come to you or not.  The Info is on the frist page in your order confirmation.

The infos looks like this:

Ihr Anschluss beinhaltet folgende Rufnummer:  0xx/12345678 (example number) 

Ihr neuer Anschluss wird am XX.XX.2023 zwischen 12-16 Uhr freigeschaltet.
Ihre Anwesenheit während dieser Zeit ist erforderlich, da ein Techniker notwendige Messungen vornehmen muss, um Ihren o2 my Home Anschluss freizuschalten.

Regarding your fritzbox: You configure your router yourself after the tec guy activated the line.

Thank you for responding to my message. I have ordered on 16.02.2023 Cable internet and the date of Installation is planned on 06.03.2023.

The English hotline helped me ordering it, I currently have my Home Spot 4G and wish to switch to Cable internet. Based upon your response, I have checked the emails and it shows the exact message what you have shared, so I believe that a Technician will come eventually. 
I would like to confirm with you please and I will call the English line as well tomorrow, on the My O2 app it shows “Wir haben die Leitung für Ihren DSL-Anschluss beim lokalen Netzbetreiber bestellt” But I have spoke almost 30mins with the customer specialist that I do not have DSL but a Cable and he has confirmed that my order is Cable internet. Is there something wrong here?!
I wanted to ask since I have TV channels working on my smart TV using coax cable already, would access to the box (shared in pictures previously) be necessary or activation would be simple? (If yes, then I have to speak to the landlord to give me the keys to that tv box).

Please excuse the late feedback

This “Wir haben die Leitung für Ihren DSL-Anschluss beim lokalen Netzbetreiber bestellt” 

indicates that we have ordered a DSL connection for you. If this is a misunderstanding, we would have to try to cancel the order asap.

In the meantime, have you spoken to our english speaking customer service colleagues via phone?

In general: You should get all the necessary keys from your landlord for the day of activation, so that the technician can perform all the necessary work in the basement where the cable box is located.

Hello Matze,

The agent on the phone when first time asked to apply for cable he applied for DSL instead 😑 (despite having a call of more than 30 mins).

I have asked to cancel it and I have applied for cable internet myself, all good so far, I dont even need a Technician to come. I have my own non-branded 6660 Fritzbox modem. All good. Just pending the activation date.
