Installation of coaxial cable for router

Hello everyone,

I have two rooms with coaxial connections, I want to move the router to the other room, but the other room doesn’t look like it has the right coaxial connection (see image). Is it possible to have a technician from O2 to come and add the right coaxial connection or is there are any other solution?

Regards,

Annie

Usually, there is an adapter included so you can use your router on these types of sockets. If it wasn’t inlcuded, you can buy these for cheap at most electronic retailers. Since these sockets are connected in series however, this socket will have a different singal level than your original socket. (usually -12db) This might cause problems for your router, so it is generally not recommended to use the secondary sockets for your cable modem. If you still want to change the location however, you would ideally need to change both the primary socket and this one to match your requirements.

Hello @NotAnyAnnie ,

welcome to the o2 Community 💙.

You’ve already received a good answer from Tim2060 here, to that I’d like to add that for anything concerning the cabling within your apartment and the building itself, you’d have to talk with your landlord, as that is outside the area that we are responsible for.

Best regards, Sven
