Hello,

My current DSL Tariff is "O2 DSL Classic M Flex,” and I would like to change it to "O2 My Home M" with 24month Contract.
I am also wondering if it's time to change the router, as I have been using the same one for a long time.

I visited the O2 shop nearby, and a member of staff advised me that the best is done online. However, I cannot find the right page.
Could you tell me how I can process it? Or could you send me an offer?

Thank you!

I am also wondering if it's time to change the router, as I have been using the same one for a long time.

DSL routers from the o2 range suitable for o2 my Home L via VDSL (up to 100 Mbit/s downstream) are o2 Homebox 6641/6441/6741/6742, AVM Fritzbox 7490/7590/7590AX. The o2 Box 6431 should no longer be used.

If you want to rent a new DSL router from o2, you can do so at the prices according to the o2 price list. On offer are o2 Homebox 6742 for 3.99 EUR rental per month and AVM Fritzbox 7590AX for 6.99 EUR rental per month, plus a one-time fee of 49.99 EUR and 9.99 EUR shipping costs.

As you can see, the rental conditions are not attractive. If you do not want to continue using your existing router, I would recommend buying your own Fritzbox. You will certainly find attractive prices in retail stores during the Black Friday promotion.

Hi @eucalyptus

Welcome to our o2 Community.

We will be happy to help you with your contract extension and will make you an offer, which we will then send to you by e-mail.
Just to be clear: You want to switch from no contract duration to a 24 month duration based on the o2 My Home M tariff,  is that correct?

Do you still want to rent an o2 router, or did blablup talk you out of it ? 😄

Best regards Matze

@blablup

Thank you for your advice!

I better purcahse new router, as mine is o2 Box 6431.

@o2_Matze

Thank you for your comment.

It would be very much appreciated if you could send me available offer to my Email.

And yes, I would like to switch from no contract duration to 24 month contract, based on the o2 My Home M tariff. Regarding a router, I prefer buying new router, rather than rental by paying monthly fee.

Thank you for your help!

Kind regards,

As the o2 Box 6431 has End of Life status, the box can be exchanged for an o2 Homebox 6741 free of charge in your old tariff (In the old tariffs, the router is included in the basic price).

Thank you for your further advice regarding a router.

Would it be not possible to get my router exchanged for free, if I switch to 24month duration contract?

The o2 my Home tariffs do not include a router in the basic price, so you don't get anything for free.

Therefore, my recommendation would be to first have the obsolete o2 Box 6431 replaced with an o2 Homebox 6741 free of charge in the old tariff and only THEN to change to an o2 my Home tariff and continue to use the o2 Homebox 6741 there free of charge.
Or alternatively buy a Fritzbox 7530AX yourself, which is technically better than an o2 Homebox.

Thank you very much for your reply.

I follow your advise, that is convincing.

Now, could you you let me know where I can order new Router (o2 Homebox 6741)?  Can I order it online? So far I cannot find the appropriate page for it.  And once I receive new router, can I start to use it straight away, or do I need to make an appointment for technician to come and set up?

Maybe @o2_Matze can send you a o2 Homebox 6741 as a free replacement for your o2 box 6431 that doesn’t get any updates anymore.

Hello @dr1029,

welcome to our o2 Community 😀

I was happy to take a look at your contract; your router can also be replaced with a newer model free of charge.

However, your DSL contract is being cancelled by January 14th, 2024. Are you sure that your require a new router for the last few days?

Best regards

Giulia
