DSL line connection guy sent from DT threatened us today? And no Wifi finally

Benutzerebene 1

Today was the appointment for Wifi connection. The Duetsche Telekom guy came and asked me for the telephone connection point. I showed him that there is a connection point in the house. But he said I need the connection point of the full house (mehrfamilien haus). Then since I dont speak German, i called the other building inmates to show the house telephone point. The DT guy checked and in the meantime, everybody there said that I have a house connection point already. At this point the guy got angry (he always was angry and was throwing tantrums at me). I wore my shoes to come down and he was like: do you think I have the whole day to wait for you? he verbally fighting for every small thing throughout. Give me the ladder: I was pulling the out the ladder and he is like: Common man, fast. I dont have time for this and he kept shaking his head in dissapointment. I felt so disgusted at this event today morning with office work. In any other country, this man would have been taken to task by authorities. he refused to give his details or identification and said I wont give the connection to you. Do whatever. Go fix another appointment and sped away in his car. O2: i know you have to rely on these guys, but what nonsense is this as a customer that I have to face. I am totally embarassed and helpless in this country not knowing the language. What can I do now? For a simple internet connection should I go through this much? I paid money and am waiting for the service.

Hello @AjayLamba31 ,

we are sorry to hear about your experience with the technician. As you yourself said these are sent out by the line owner and we don’t have any effect on them. Most of the time these technicians aren’t directly from the Telekom itself either but a subcontractor and run on very tight schedules, never the less the behavior as presented is not acceptable.

Have you already contacted us for another appointment or should we take care of this? If so which weekday would be ideal for you? Hopefully you get a different technician that is in a better mood next time.

Kind regards, Sven

I spoke to O2 English customer care and they mentioned that the DSL telephone line is active but I made the router installation myself at home. It seems that I need to register the internet connection with a user id, password and a 4 digit pin on O2 website to make the wifi go live. I have the user id and password but the 4 digit pin is not available yet. O2 customer care mentioned that they send the 4 digit pin via post physically! I have not yet received the pin yet. Is there a way I receive this 4 digit pin faster or should I wait for the 4 digit pin to arrive by post?

Is the DSL LED on?

Hello @AjayLamba31 ,

the 4-digit pin is the “persönliche Kundenkennzahl” you should have set this yourself when you ordered the contract. You need it to register for the mein o2 Portal on the website, but it is not necessary for the setup of your router and the internet connection. Are you using your own hardware or a you renting a router via o2? If you can tell us which model you are using we might be able to help you with the setup.

Kind regards, Sven

we are using our own hardware. Fritzbox 7510 XF. i asked the phone customer care where can i find the 4 digit pin. but they also said it comes with the contract. but where exactly ? to my email or was it given at the store? since the phone customer care mentioned that we need the 4 digit pin to setup the wifi, I thought so. But if you think it is not needed to setup the wifi at home, then please help us to setup internet at home.

The FRITZ!Box 7510 will not ask for a 4 digit number…

Which the video it will show you how to. Set up the 7510

Hello @AjayLamba31 ,

as schluej has already said and is shown in the video, you only need the Username and Password for the FritzBox, you should have received these in the Welcomeletter for the DSL contract. Once you have gotten the 4-digit pin you can also register for the mein o2 Portal and find them there. A factory reset of the router if you had it in use on a different connection before it also a good idea. That aside, if you can tell us where and when exactly during setup you are finding difficulties, then we can also give exact answers to that instead of these more general tips.

Kind regards, Sven

The exact problem I am facing is this: The fritzbox website doesnot open. Neither does the IP address. it just keep giving us this message:

Hmmm...diese Seite ist leider nicht erreichbar

The video is simple but to get to the website first is a problem. We tried over hotspot, mobile data on 3 devices and still cannot enter the website.

You must connect to the FRITZ!Box via WLAN or LAN directly!

The WLAN Name and password is on the back side of the FRITZ!Box!

“WLAN-Funknetz (SSID)“ is the name of the Network. You will see it if you scan for a network.

„WLAN-Netzwerkschlüssel (WPA2)“ is the WLAN Key.

„FRITZ!Box-Kennwort“ is the password for the web Interface.

Hello @AjayLamba31,

were you already able to resolve this issue and connect to your Fritzbox? One thing that came to my mind:  If you are using a computer while trying t oaccess the box please make sure it has not set an statical IP address but instead DHCP iss activated in the settings of your computer.

Regards,

Lars
