I had FritzBox 7490. Was working just fine.

Recently the router got burned, and I had to replace it. I’ve purchased a used 7590 AX.

I configured 7590 from scratch (after factory reset). But I’ve got a problem - streaming services work unstable.

When I test with speedtest.net, it shows no problems - I’m getting maximum available bandwitth per my tarif: 98Mbits down, 34MBits up.

But when I have meeting over MSTeams on PC (wired with LAN cable), or watch TikTok videos on smartphone (over WiFi6 connection), the videostream gets downgraded by Teams or frozen in Tiktok.

Therefore I presume there is some DSL configuration problem, or router’s DSL module is somehow corrupted.

Could someone please tell me what advanced options can I try to adjust? My connection type is VDSL2 17a G.Vector (ITU G.993.5)

I’ve already played with Internet->DSL Information->Line Settings:

  • switched to ‘maximum stability’ (as well as tried other grades between “stability” and “performance”
  • tried “use previous DSL version” (means tried 1.196.5.6 and 1.196.7.44)
  • tried “Annex A” and “Annex B”

But none of options helped me. Though not sure if I tried all possible combinations.

Is there anything else I can try?

Also what is correct “Annex” settings? It seems to be working with both of them (A and 😎.

@ai91 First. Switch back to max Performance at dsl settings. This parameters are for unstable dsl connection. Second switch to WPA2 only at the WiFi settings in the Fritzbox and test again.

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately didn't help.

1. Returned back to "max performance"

2. WPA2 only was configured initially, and i never used wpa2+3 option.

I'm not sure if that is a wifi problem.

One more detail:

I have two routers. Second connected in client mode via 1GB LAN.

Internet - 7950 - 7362

The streaming problem also occurs when I'm connected to the second router.

Wi-Fi channels are not overlapping: one router configured to ch1, second to ch11. (Also tried autoconfiguration). 5GHz is also not overlapped. No much wifi noise in the area: living in private house, with very few neighbor's networks with weak signals.

My previous setup was with three routers:

Internet - 7490 - (7590 + 7362).

The previous setup was working flawlessly. No hiccups, no matter which WiFi I'm connected to.

But as i said, the "entrance" 7490 router burned, so i had to replace it with 7590. Factory resetted, configured from scratch.

Now every few minutes I'm getting an annoying hiccup.

Now I'm tending to think it's a HW-problem.

@ai91 OK.  No default configuration.  Are you running Dualstack (IPv4/IPv6) or just IPv4?  Are the only original o2 DNS servers used or did you enter those from Google, for example?

@Joe Doe

Only original o2 DNS servers on router.

Internet → Account Information → IPv6:

  • IPv6 support enabled
  • IPv6 Connectivity = Use native IPv4 connection
  • Connection Settings: ☑️ Use DHCPv6 Rapid Commit

Internet → Account Information → Provider Services:

  • ☑️ Allow automatic configuration by the internet provider
  • ☑️ Permit automatic updates
  • ☑️ Observe the URL of the Auto Configuration Server over DHCP

Internet → Account Information → DNS Server:

  • ☑️ Use DNSv4 servers assigned by the internet service provider
  • ☑️ Use DNSv6 servers assigned by the internet service provider

Though on mobile devices i have different options (both have same issues):

  • one device has only default DNS (from router → from O2)
  • another device has DNS 1 = 8.8.8.8, DNS 2 = 192.168.1.1

@ai91 Have you change the LAN connection to another LAN Port at the 7590? Did you another LAN cable. And you should try to turn off IPv6 on the 7590 for testing too.

Not really relevant - experiencing same issues when connected over WiFi directly to 7590.

Means there is only one cable involved: telephone cable. Same cable what was used with previous 7490 a day before.

@ai91 And you should try to turn off IPv6 on the 7590 for testing too.

Did last night. No changes.

Hi @ai91

Welcome to our o2 Community.  I am really confused, because the 7590 is a much stronger and better router compared to the (still very good) 7490. My suggestion is to reset the 7590 (a full factory reset)  and set up the box again with the default settings, just enter your o2 credentials / access data we sent you ( “DSL Benutzername + o2 Kennwort” ) and then monitor the connection and the performance for 24 hours. If you still notice performance limitations please get back to us here.
At the same time, you can also create a ticket with AVM Support so that they can check whether there is a hardware defect.

Best Regards Matze

Hi @ai91,

we are interested in the status quo 🙂 and we would be happy when you post us here an update and the requested information. Perhaps we can help you when the problems still exists.

I’ve contacted AVM Support.

As a first step they suggested me to collect DSL Diagnostics data for further analisys by AVM support team, as well as to track DSL connection data/spectrum.

But.

Within next 12 hours, while diagnostics data has been collecting, my connection became stable again - I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue anymore.

So my theory is: right after my old 7490 got burned, the DLS line from my provider also was somehow corrupted/misconfigured. And during next few days, while I was trying to identify issue on my side, they did fix line.

Though I’m not sure if these two events are related anyhow:

  • whether my router got burned due to line failure,
  • or whether line got corrupted because of router got burned and sent some kill-impulse to the line
  • or that’s just a coincidence

Anyhow: it’s already two months as my “new” 7590 works flawlessly with exact same configuration I had in the beginning, after a factory reset.

Thank you for your update. I am glad that everything is working now.
