I am planning to apply for new o2 DSL contract (with less mbps, due to the availability here in Solingen). I asked my landlord if there is a Telephone socket for the DSL. And he told me that there is a socket in the basement and they have the same connection also.

However, i checked in my living room and found that there is no TAE socket. Instead there is only LAN socket. Could it be used for the DSL? Since my landlord told me that LAN is connected to the the Telefon Anschluss at the basement?

There are 2 options:

  1. Router placed in basement. And using the lan connection in your flat.
  2. Using the lan connection in basement as a dsl extension. Place the router in your flat and connect the router to the lan port in your flat. Normal U are using the 2 inner contacts of the RJ45 cable to connect to the dsl port of the router (pin 4/5).
In this case WLAN is useable!

Hello @Rhonzjoy and thank you very much for the quick support schluej.💙

@Rhonzjoy, have you already thought through the two tips from schluej, how you want to proceed now?

Will you use the connection in the basement and connect in your apartment via LAN cable?

Or will you want to use the DSL extension with a router in your apartment?

Best regards

Steffen
