Hi, sorry my German is bad, please allow me to post in English.

I recently bought a 4K TV, and I was trying to enjoy some 4K streaming on YouTube, while I notice it is often buffering. Then I started to test my internet speed, I got ~25 Mbps for download and ~10 Mbps for uploading. The thing is I pay 29.99 euro per month, which is the usual price for ‘M’ package promising for 50 Mbps, while when I log in my account my contract is on ‘S’ package. I actually don’t really know what plan I am on now. It seems that I got some kind of promotion for ‘S’ package maybe? but I still don’t think I have got what I’m paying for, I surely prefer enjoying some better performance. I wonder if anyone can check it for me?

Thanks

Will be your line length or some problem with it, the next lower profile then 50/10 is 25/5. Are you sure that your internet is responsible for buffering? It took me a while as well, but if too many frames are dropped YouTube stops loading. You can right click in a video, Stats for nerds to take a look at the dropped frame number.

Edit: Wait it is a smart tv, according to Google this is how it works: “

  1. Open the YouTube TV app on your TV, and play a video.
  2. Go to the player controls, then select More .
  3. Select the bug . Stats for nerds will be displayed on top of the video while the video is playing.
  4. Take a clear photo of the Stats for nerds and send it to YouTube TV Support via chat or email. You can also call YouTube TV Support and read off Stats for nerds info.”

We have a dedicated English section, I’ll move your post there.

Hi, thanks for replying. Didn't know there was an English section, Thanks for pointing me here.

The frame dropping could be an issue, it actually happens. I will take a look.

Speaking of the speed, I tested it a few more times, now it shows ~ 5 Mbps for uploading, I could misread before. So I guess my plan looks more like 25/5 to me now. I will need to check with some O2 staff.

Cheers

Update: Well I checked the stats for nerd, the frame drops sometime, but that usually happens at the same time as the buffer health is close to 0 sec. I have checked the the app is up to date. The speed shows in the stats is ~22 Mbps, I think it is below the threshold of 4K streaming, so I still pro the internet is responsible.

What does the availability check show: https://www.o2online.de/e-shop/internet-festnetz? If it is more than 25 MBit/s, a moderator can upgrade it to 50 MBit/s free of charge, but it was likely not available when ordering your line.

Yes, I have tested, the maximum speed for my building is 250 Mbps. I will talk to O2.

Thanks

Hi Manga,

Yes, I have chatted with O2 staff using online service and I have got my upgrade to 50 Mbit/s, and this will take place in a month.

Thank you and special thanks to  @Droggelbecher!
