Dear Sir/Madam,



I signed a two-year (24 months) DSL-contract with O2 company from 15/05/2018 to 14/05/2020. As terms I read and understood in my contract, I came to O2 shop to ask how to cancel my contract as it ends. The O2 staff gave me the address of O2 service team and asked me to write a cancellation letter and send to Telefónica Germany GmbH & Co. OHG Kundenbetreuung 90345 Nürnberg. I then wrote a letter immediately at that O2 shop and sent by DHL service with tracking number. I am sure that the letter arrived the exact address before 14/02/2020. Please find the attached picture for more details. 



However NOW my contract is automatically extended one more year (until 14/02/2021). Please check one more time and cancel my contract as agreed terms. I almost finished my study in Germany and tend to come back to my home country in the next months. 



I really do not want everything to get too complicated, but I will try my best to protect my right as I am living in Germany. You are a reliable and trustworthy company, I believe you will always do everything to maintain that.

If you send a cancelation for a contract in time then the contract should be deactivated to the date that was agreed upon in the contract details. If the cancelation does not arrive in time, a contract will be automatically extended by 12 months. So the date that you see with the 14th of February does not seem like a contract run time to me, it lookes more like that latest date to send a cancelation.

May I ask if you tried using your DSL connection after the expected cancelation date? Does it still run? And where exactly did you find the date with February in the following year? If you just saw it in “Mein o2” please be aware that the online area does not take an active cancelation in consideration. So if you saw this in the online area it is quite possible that averything already worked like it should…

Thank you very much for your response.

In fact, I found the date with February in the following year in “Mein o2”. But you know, because when I sent my cancellation letter to “Customer Service”, I received no confirmation, no reply from you, and I then saw extension period of my contract on my online account. Hence, I have a suitable reason to believe that something with my contract went wrong. 

Please let me know how to be sure that my contract is deactivated already. 

One more thing, I could not use the DSL connection for a very long time (from September 2019). Due to data protection law from the Studentenwerk, I cannot access a private connection anymore. I used to send that notification attached with a cancellation letter to your head office in Munich to ask for a cancellation before the contract ends. However, I also received nothing from you. And I paid every month without using the DSL connection from that period until now. 

Anyway, please help to deactivate my contract as soon as possible, I will come back my home country soon.

if you are talking about your DSL contract it is finished since May 14 th 2020. You will receive your final invoice in June afterwards everything is fine.
