Cable connection without multimedia socket: Fritzbox was delivered without a multimedia adapter

Hi, i received the router fritzbox 6660 without the multimedia socket. The installation date is tomorrow. Can i postpone the installation when the adapter that i ordered from O2 will arrive?  ( i hope soon) Thanks

Hello @flo888,

please do not create several identical topics in advance, this will only make it confusing.

As far as I know, you can't postpone the activation date and how exactly do you mean you received the router but not the multimedia socke/adapter? When you receive the router, everything you need to connect the router is actually included in the package.

Hi, thank you for your answer. Yes i did receive the router but not the multimedia adapter. I needed to order it from the customer service. And is taking time to arrive and the activation date is tomorrow. In my apartment I have only the two plugs for tv and radio. My question is, can i plug the router also in few days? It will be a problem? Thanks

Hey @flo888,

of course you can also connect the router a few days later. The activation date tells you when you will get Internet via WiFi and LAN. So basecally when the contract is active, what irritates me a little is that you have to order it separately from O2. Do you live in Germany or in another EU country?

Thank you for your quick answer. Yes, I do live in Berlin. I also ordered an adaptor from Amazon ( because I panicked and I need internet) but is much more complex. Basically i need to remove literally the one from the wall, switch cables in the new one and put it back in the wall. I don’t trust myself doing that, I can do more damage. So I am forced to wait for the O2 adapter.

@flo888 Okay, I'm beginning to understand what you mean with multimedia adapter, I have had the Internet for so long that I have completely forgotten that this adapter exists because I have a multimedia socket and don't need an adapter. Don't worry, you can still connect your router a few days after the activation date. You can check back in a few days to see if everything worked, if so, you can mark the solution.

Hello @flo888 ,

welcome to the o2 Community 💙.

It’s not always necessary to use a multimedia adapter, even with some two connector sockets you can still plug in your calberouter and have internet. If it is an old two socket one that was never refurbished and you can’t connect the router, then this would have to be switched out.
