Hi, 

at the beginning, of May I signed a contract for O2 my Home XXL over a cable connection. Since I have my own cable router I just gave the MAC address to an agent in O2 support. According to them, everything should be ready for activation.

I have two questions: 

  • The activation date is in 10 days. Since everything is ready is it possible to move the activation date earlier?
  • Is it possible to put the cable modem in bridge mode since I have another router?

Unfortunately, I’m not able to see any details about my contract and I’m getting the following error in “Mein O2”. 

The connection will be provided through Vodafone's infrastructure if this is important.

No.

How are we supposed to know what your own device is capable of or not capable of? o2 cannot offer support for customer-owned devices. 


Thanks for the answers. It was advertised that activation can take up to three weeks but looks like it will take five.

 

Then let me rephrase my question. Is possible to use a cable modem provided by O2 bridge in bridge mode?

It's not about device but support on the provider side. 


The only device available from o2 for cable/DOCSIS connections is the AVM Fritz!Box 6660 cable and this device does not support bridge mode.

Since you have decided to use your own device instead of the rented device from o2, the question does not make sense to me. o2 will not provide any device to you.

I don’t see a reason why you wouldn’t be able to use your own device in bridge mode if it is capable of such. Aside from that blablup has already given you the right  answers, if there are any more questions we’d be happy to help you here.
