Dear o2 service support,
I just moved out to Germany lived before in The Netherlands had cable 120mb/s. And now me and my wife choose o2 as our ISP.
So i was used to have great / stable / fast Internet in The Netherlands. Since we moved to Germany i am seeing there are a lot of households that cannot have cable or fiberglas internet. So we to cannot have cable (Saarland - Neunkirchen - 66538 - Brückenstraße)
i think Germany isent innovating in there Infrastruktur as The Netherlands do. But doesent mather. So we decided to choose o2 as our ISP troughout check24 we saw the best price for us.
The real question is:
Now i am wondering if it is possible to use my own router instead of the o2 WLAN router? I just want o2 as a internet giving port. And to set the modem in bridge modus.
Best regards,

O2 does not offer a modem in bridge mode. You can use the o2 device as it is - otherwise your have to use own device.
Btw: O2 offers with "O2 DSL ALL-in XL" 100 Mbit/s downstream and 40 Mbit/s upstream. I think this is comparable to cable internet, but with higher upload.

Hello,
Thank you for the quik reply.
Ofcourse i Will use my own router Cisco r130w with a ea2700 linksys Accesspoint. But if the o2 modems doesent support bridge modus functions in the settings of the o2 Box its useless than.
Can it reach 66538 - Neunkirchen - Brückenstraße 10? The high speed internet? Because on check24 its says maximum 16mbit.

You ordered the o2 Homebox? This is not a simple modem, but an IAD. If want a simple modem, buy one or an other device with integrated modem. Please note that O2 will only provide assistance for the supplied device.
You can check this on your own:

Hi there,
My wife ordered the "WLAN homebox" i think because it was free. Because she is origenaly from Germany so she knows the german language and whats on the o2 website written when you order.
So with this "homebox" it is not possible to use it in bridge modus you are telling me.
Soi need to find a modem by my self in this case

The purpose of the o2 Homebox is to provide telephone and internet service for the customer. Therefore (once initial configured with the PIN) it establishes an PPPoE connection. Because only one PPPoE connection can be made, no other device can do a second PPPoE connection as long as the o2 Homebox is connected to the line.
I never tried to use a not configured o2 Homebox as a modem, but since this is not mentioned in the manual, I would'n expect this to work.
If you don't want to use the device supplied by O2 though you want to use land-line telephone, make sure that your devices are able to work with o2 SIP phone service.

The Fritzbox was not free i heard (monthly paying €5,-) so if i buy one of the internet will basicly work with the o2 supplied internet right. NO need extra special things to use or buy extra.
In the Netherlands i was always used to have the oppertunity of the ISP it self for the Bridge functions to use.
I cannot edig btw messages if you can Change it for me. I do not have the rights to Change my Messages.

When you ordered O2 DSL you had the choice between the o2 Homebox for free or the AVM Fritzbox 7490 for 30 EUR (+shipping 9,99 EUR, all devices as loan equipment). There is not monthly paying for devices at o2 DSL.
Since only one single DSL connection is used for both internet and telephone service, a brigde mode can not be offered without to abandon the telephony function. Customers want to keep their classic telephones and they prefer simple one box solutions. Because of this, there is no longer a demand for a simple DSL-Modem.
I have no rights to change not even my own messages ;-)

To bad there is no solution for me at the moment than. Or if i buy the Fritzbox to ignore the Telephone than it will be possible? I Will consider to buy the Fritzbox than. Because i want to use my own Equipmen Router + Accesspoint.
I am not sure if the AVM Fritzbox 7490 can be used as a simple DSL Modem - I would say no. And I think it would be wastefulness to use a sophisticated and expensive (200 EUR) device like the AVM Fritzbox 7490 as a simple DSL Modem.
I really don't know what is so special with your own equiment. The Wi-Fi of your Linksys is outdated and outmatched even by the o2 Homebox 6441 (4x4 AC with MU-MIMO 1700 Mbit/s).

I am using special router with firewall / DNS machine (pfSense) machine so need my own LAN to set different routes and gateways.
And all my VMware machines must be port forward to special restrictions. With boxes like the homebox etcetc all that will not work properly. And need to search for a different operator i think.

Plus the ea2700 Will Be a guest Accesspoint , and the other one Will provide me a dmz zone. So its Not that big deal to have older router as ac
If you have special needs, what is your problem to buy the special products that fit your needs? You don't have to use the o2 Homebox. You can replaces it with whatever you want.
I just move out, so for me it Will take some time to understand the rules and possibilies for internet at home.
You told me that using a Fritzbox can be a solution. But than the phoneline Will be gone? For now that Will not be a big deal.
So i will see to Change my Order at o2. If possible. My wife ordered it from check24, and the contract start next month. So till than i will see the best solution.

I have no information that an AVM Fritzbox 7490 can be used as a simple DSL Modem in Bridge Mode. Perhaps you may want to ask AVM about the capabilities of their product.
The AVM Fritzbox 7490 has more advanced features than the o2 Homebox. If this features would meet your needs it could be a replacement for your router. Than it would be a solution - otherwise not. You startet to mention the Fritzbox, not me.
Orders of the device can not be changed until line is functioning. Safe your time. When you are talking about your needs, I am not sure if you bear in mind the "o2 DSL ALL-in M" has a speed limit at 300 GB/month. Perhaps you should ask your wife for a full translation of the price and feature list/service description.

If I am right, you need following components:
VDSL Modem/Router (e.g. Asus, Vigor etc) without VoIP. Modem must carry out login, to be able to split the Voip and LAN-internet.
Connect 2 pathes for VoIP and LAN:
- Fritzbox 7490 in ATA-/Cable-modus (internet via LAN1) for VoIP or another Fritzbox for VoIP
- pfsense and Access Points for Internet
btw - the Fritzbox is not your own for 79€ - its only a fee for "Bereitstellung". Fritzbox is not able to work as simple Modem. All hardware must send back to O2!
First installation of the 7490 in Router modus recommended!

Thank you for the clarificafion .
For me VoIP isent important. Only internet and using my own hardware. And telefonie.
I just moved out to Germany and its difficuilt for me now without my profession to buy of even rent such a Box. So i searched in the Internet.
Fritzbox 7170 (€20,- REFURBISHED) , it haves DSL , and phoneline. Just for 20,-
SO THIS WILL BE THE ROUTE:
Fritzbox 7170 - Cisco - linksys (pfSense is a VMware machine with a virtual nat Network.)

OMG - a 8 year old historic router without VDSL- for what?
If you don´t need VoIP, forget a Fritzbox. Buy a Vigor, ASUS, TP-Link-Modem(Router) without VoIP and which is able to de-activate all security features like firewall, NAT etc. and connect it to your pfsense. Put the homebox in the cellar, but don´t forget it.

Thank you for the clarification.
For me it is now just i want to use my own equipement. Thats why i am searching for hardware what i can use for my situation. o2 is only my ISP delivery services. With my own hardware i want to configure my entire inside netwerk within my broadcast. Because with cable it is much easyer for me to set all my current configuration than DSL.
Here in Germany a lot of people are having Fritzbox 7312 who is capible to connect dect-modem features. And with the AVM update firmware it can run bridge modus????

The internetspeed here is limited to 16mb/s so there is no need to use a expensive modem.
And only dect connection, dsl connection, and bridge modus are important for me. Why is o2 limetinng there cheap internet for 300gb. that is a outdated package... Or is this only for dsl connections??

As I already pointed out, a device can not offer a modem bridge mode and voip/phones services at the same time. This applies to all devices. You can use IP-Phones like Gigaset Go series.
O2 buys wholesale DSL services from Deutsche Telekom. These are also priced on data volume. Therefore O2 has no interest in customers who consume high data volumes. O2 offers an option for unlimited data volume for extra payment.
