Festnetznummer and Voicemail - English

Hello All,

I am new in Germany and understand little German so far, unfortunately.

I am an O2 customer using  O2 Blue Select Terif, just got it a few days before, I have a few questions I want to know.

If my family ( from other country ) calls to a German festnetznummer, they are charged like 1c/min

If my family ( from other country ) calls to a German mobile nummer, they are charged like 20c/min

Since O2 gives me an extra festnetznummer in addition to my normal O2 nummber, What if I give my O2 festnetznummer to my family and they start calling me on this instead of my O2 handynummer

Question 1,1: Will they be charged as a standerd German festnetznummer call ( i.e. 1c/min ) or still charged as German mobile call ( i.e. 20c/min )?

Question 1,2: If I am out of my homezone and cannot recieve a call on my O2 festnetznummer and their call goes to my O2 Voicemail, will they still be charged as a standerd German festnetznummer call ( i.e. 1c/min ) or as German mobile call ( i.e. 20c/min )?

Question 1,3: In case of 'Question 1,2' - will I be charged something?

Question 1,4: In case 'Question 1,2' - I believe that I will receive an SMS on my handy, letting me know that someone called me on my O2 festnetznummer, please confirm?

Question 2,1: Will I be charged something for listening to my voicemails received either via my O2 festnetznummer or via standerd O2 handynummber?

Your understanding is fully correct: The caller is only charged based on the number he dials (fixed line or mobile) - regardless if you are answering the call or if the call goes to voicemail. Hence, if  the caller calls your fixed-line/Festnetz number - mobile charges will newer occur. Call setup - especially when calling from abroad - takes slightly longer when calling the fixed line number compared to calling your mobile number. Depending on the orginating operator the caller might already get charged for the call setup (but always the rate for calls to fixed-line numbers in Germany).

Moreover, by default, all calls terminating at your fixed line number while your mobile is outside of the homezone area go straight to voicemail - free of charge and you will get an SMS notification free of charge as well - even if the caller does not leave a message (provided that caller-id information was available).

Only if you actively call the call manager (by dialing 1010 from you mobile) and select the option to forward calls to your fixed-line number always to your mobile, you will be charged €0.19/min for each call you are answering outside of your homezone. Unfortunately you cannot distinguish an incoming call whether the caller called your mobile number (free of charge for you) or your fixed line number.
