Hello!
I would like to terminate my contract with O2 due moving out of the country for work purpose. I’ll be leaving in September.
How should I proceed?
Can I do it online?
I’ve been to a O2 store, however it was full and I wait for more than 45 minutes.
Thank you for your help.

Hello @Ett ,

welcome to the o2 Community 💙.

You can also use the normal online form to terminate your contract. The important part is that you add the required documents, the link that Bollermann posted has some information about that. If you have any further questions after reading it, please let us know.

Kind regards, Sven

Thanks!
How can I proceed in case of temporary moving abroad? I’ll be back to Gemany, so I don’t have the Deregistration document.

Dann kannst du eventuell den Vertrag stilllegen. Wie lange verlässt du Deutschland? Länger als 12 Monate?

I’ll be leaving for 6 months.

Sorry, what is the difference between suspend and terminate the contract?

Hello @Ett ,

suspending the contract, essentially freezes it for a time. So you’ll have a period during which the contract won’t be useable, you won’t have to pay for it and the normal contract duration doesn’t progress. Then when you are back in Germany the contract you can have the contract reactivated and it will continue on as before.

Kind regards, Sven

Ok. But if I want to terminate, is it possible? Can I pay for terminating the contract? I don’t want to continue using O2 when I’m back.
Thanks.

@Ett

How long is the period of your contract now?

My contract is going to turn 1 year in August. I’m leaving in September, so it will be more than one year total.

Hello @Ett. 🙂

You can cancel your contract at the end of the agreed minimum term. Early cancellation is only possible under certain circumstances, such as a permanent move abroad.
For the 6 months of your stay, I think the option of suspending the contract is perfectly suitable.
Or have you taken out a Flex contract, which can be cancelled monthly?

Do you perhaps stay in the EU and sometimes come to Germany? Then perhaps it would be practical for you to continue using your contract and your usual number?
