I am using a Prepaid SIM card from O2 for almost 3 years. I never did any contract because I don't like to be stuck for 24 months with something that I would like to change after 2 or 3 months.
Recently I thought about moving to a different provider but I would like to keep my phone number. On the application I am doing the new provider warns me that if that is the case I will be charged by around 25 to 30 euros and that I should contact the previous provider in order to know how to go through the process of keeping the same number and how to make this payment.
I tried to contact O2 through the Hotline and I was told that I should use a special Prepaid Hotline. I tried to use the live chat and I was told that the Prepaid people are not available.
Could someone be kind to explain me what should I do to take my number to a new provider, how much are the costs and how can I pay them to O2?

To take the mobile number to a new provider costs 29,95 Euro. This fee will be paid by your prepaid balance. Mandate the new provider to take the number and he will contact us because of this. Which new provider did you choose?

I am thinking to go to Smartmobile (it is also o2 network) because there is now a promotion with much more data volume and also with an offer of 100 minutes and 100mb to use in EU countries for almost the same price I pay with my prepaid O2. This is good for me because I am very often outside Germany. It is a contract that I can quit every month so I don't have the problem of being stuck with a 24 month contract in case I need to leave Germany for a long time.

I'm having a 2 yrs contract and that will end in jan 2021 (O2 - 10gb at 29 euros) but I want to change my O2 contract to 20gb data with handy. Is it possible to use my current number for the new contract?
