New Speed Capability on my address.

Benutzerebene 1

I saw today that there is a 50Mbps speed of internet thru DSL line in my address, but I don’t know how can I change it. Also, as my German is not good, when I call to O2 customer service unfortunately I didn’t understand correctly and I need to switch to the Maximumm speed available in my address.

Hi @Leo_chile

nice to meet you in our English Community again.

I am happy that you would like to get the maximum at your DSL-address. Did you already check online what is possible for you? Just have a look here: internet availability

If you would like to prolong your DSL-contract with a nice discount, I would like to ask you for some more months of patience. From 25th December 2021 onward, we are able to give you a nice offer for extension.

Of course, it is also possible to change your DSL-tariff already now without a price-discount. But your contract will also be prolonged for further 24 months in this case.

It is now your decision how to proceed.

Loving greetings,

Tobias

Hello Tobias, thanks for taking care about my request.

For me is very important to get the maximum speed available as soon as possible, in fact, yesterday I did the request thru Mein O2 web page, but I guess that I did something wrong.

The maximum speed available thru DSL is 50Mbps, but for me is too slow (consider that in my little country of origin I have Fiberglass 900Mbps Symmetric by Movistar[telefonica Chile]), but I guess that will works better than the 16Mbps that I have today. For example, at every time when I have some video calls (Whatsapp or Facetime) I need to switch to a mobile network to get the proper quality, to do streaming also, for having IPTV also, really the current connection is just for working with texts and some internet services.

So, if you have the chance to help me with this topic, I’ll appreciate so much.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Dear @Leo_chile ,

at the moment, I can only offer you DSL with a maximum of 16k, as you are already using it. However, I will ask whether it is possible to update the address data, because I see that more is possible with Telekom and therefore we should also be able to offer this.
In principle, you could switch to a Home M FMS, which is a mobile tariff. However, only up to values are given here and the network can be significantly slower. So it's quite possible that you'll end up surfing slower than you do now. I would therefore advise you to wait a few days until your colleagues have updated your data, then we can take another look.

Kind regards,

Andrea

Dear Andrea, thanks for your answer.

Please forward to the responsible colleagues that the Availability test for DSL in the O2 webpage is reporting that is possible in my address the speed of 50Mbps with DSL and also with 5G technology. I hope that somebody explain to me why in Helsa and in Lohfelden they have Fiber Glass and here no (is just one town closer to Kassel and one town over Kafungen). I hope that finally exist the chance to do the upgrade, in fact to write you this answer I used my mobile phone as a hotspot because the other persons in my house they are making their stuffs.

With my best Regards.

Leonardo.

Hi Joe!, thanks for your answer, if you tell me that in a few days exists a chance to move to (BS) VDSL or Fiber, of course that I will wait. I guess that 1 week from today is a good time. Please keep this thread open and when you or any of your colleagues have the good news for this town of the century 16th will have a decent internet for the first time ever. Regarding to your question, I have also 2 subscription with O2 for mobile. The subscription is unlimited but with a limit in the broadband, I found that the rates here in Germany are excessively expensive, if you compare with Spain for example here in Europe, in America is a different history, currently I have 2 lines in America with movistar with an 50Gb monthly of data for 15EUR each line and the speed reach 300Mbps.

I’ll wait for your good news.

@Leo_chile Did you know someone, who don’t have an o2 mobile contact?  This person can order an unlimited full bandwidth 4G/5G 30days test tariff.

It automatically cancel after 30days . It can been order at 1 June. Best chance to test the 5G o2 network at your town.
But I prefer VDSL / Fiber for 4G / 5 G.

Yes Joe, maybe my wife has the chance to request this service because the current contract is for me. I followed the link that you provided but I didn’t found the option for testing, in all options that I tried is with a 24 months contract and I didn’t saw the clause for testing.

Could you help me?

Dear @Leo_chile ,

I have received feedback. Unfortunately, the Telekom offer is a regional offer that is not transferable to us (Telekom has bought something from another source).
At your address, only 16K ADSL can be booked as a DSL product, cable is unfortunately not available either.
If 16K is too slow for you, the only option would be the o2 My Home M FMS via mobile phone.
You should first test the mobile availability at your address and in the building. To see if you are satisfied. It's best to test it with a mobile phone at different times, as the load can vary.
Please note that our homespt can only use LTE 800. That would be the station in Leipziger Straße. Can you align the router in this direction or even attach an antenna if the result is not satisfactory without it?

Kind regards,

Andrea

Thanks Andrea for your feedback, sadly I felt that I’m living in the medium age, for me is hard to believe this situation, but if you have the chance to help me with a kind of demo for one month of this device and if the performance is good, can I handle properly, I have on position in my house with a clear view to Leipziger Str. (300mts from my house) and I guess that the station that you mentioned is located in Niederkaufungen, is just 3kms (straight ahead from my house).

Also using this opportunity, do you know if exist a kind of upgrade of the 2 mobile contracts that I have?, means to keep the tariff but without the 10Mbit/sec limitation?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, unfortunately the speed of the line never goes faster than 20Mbps and in the day goes up to 8Mbps, I tested with another provider and I got 100Mbps in te same location, I guess that the best solution in this case is to try to end the DSL contract to move to another provider using 5G. Any of yours could help me with the way to end the DSL contract?

@Leo_chile

I Strongly prefer for cancel the contract over letter (Einschreiben Einwurf) or Fax. You find the documents in the link down.

Best regards
