Hello everyone,

I'm using O2 My Home M Unlimited Max 50 MBit/s service. However i have avarege speed of 3-6MBit(See Screenshot). It's unbelievable. Why is this happening? I was using the service before in Kassel, Hesse it was working great but since I moved to Munich, I hardly gets 6MBits/S. Sometimes, I have to work from home. I can't even do internet surfing. If this continues to be like this, I will quit using O2. Unfortunately, my contract will end in Sep2023. Here is the last speed test i made. By the way i'm living in 80689 Munich.

I tried to move the router around the house and with the best position possible I can get maybe 6-7 Mbit/s, which is still very-very far from what was promised. I tried to reboot the router, didn’t help.
Please advise how should I proceed?

Hello @ShahzadNabeelpk and welcome on bo(a)rd.

The ratio between O2-users and O2-radiostations is in no good balance concerning LTE. The only thing you can check out - therefor you will need a 5 G mobile  - is to get the SIM out of the router and put it into your mobile.

There are two radiostations sending the 5G-signal not too far from you. Here you can see them to the left:

https://www.cellmapper.net/map?MCC=262&MNC=3&type=NR&latitude=48.12419243689604&longitude=11.48720263062743&zoom=16&showTowers=true&showIcons=true&showTowerLabels=true&clusterEnabled=true&tilesEnabled=true&showOrphans=false&showNoFrequencyOnly=false&showFrequencyOnly=false&showBandwidthOnly=false&DateFilterType=Last&showHex=false&showVerifiedOnly=false&showUnverifiedOnly=false&showLTECAOnly=false&showENDCOnly=false&showBand=0&showSectorColours=true&mapType=roadmap&darkMode=false

The upper one sends in your direction.

I`m pretty sure the speed is now very much better. If so, you need to order a 5G-router for better results.

Hi @Nachtschwester Ingeborg

Thanks for your reply, I just inserted the sim card inside the mobile, I have used 3 different types of speedtest Apps but I’m getting almost similar results.

Unfortunately, Nothing has changed much. I also have a neighbor in Ludlstraße 31,80689 Munich, He is also having the same problem.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Shahzad

Thanks for your reply. I guess, you used a 5G-mobile for testing. Your tests show LTE connections and yes, big cities like Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Cologne are overcrowded.

At least it looks like in your flat you get no 5G-connection. There is nothing you can do, if you live e. g. groundfloor. If you live upper floor (as it seems) you don’t have free sightview to the recommended radiostation, right?

Is there a possibility to switch your contract into a fixedline-contract, like Cable/VDSL or FIBRE (FTTH)?

If not, put a lid on it and quit!

@Nachtschwester Ingeborg

I agree with you, Munich is overcrowded. This is a newly builtup area, T mobile is the only available DSL service provider here.

I would prefer to quit. is it possible? if yes, what’s the best way to do it?

Thanks for your support.

Regards,

Shahzad

Good Lord,

now you got me by the eggs, as we Krauts would say. (You got me by the balls)

To be certain:

Do you have a so called „Flex Tarif“? This contract ist easily to determine each month to the end of it.

As I understood you so far, you are not forced to a 24 month contract, right?

If too, you need to make speedtests on and on and save them for documentation and then to contact the BNA:

https://www.bundesnetzagentur.de/

Herefor you of course should take a helpnig hand from a german friend. The rest is a stressing game...

Hi @ShahzadNabeelpk

Welcome to our o2 Community.

I'm sorry you're having such trouble with your contract and the downloadperformance.

Can you tell us what router you are currently using? You should be able to find the exact name on the label under the device.

Kind regards Matze

Hi @o2_Matze

I called o2 helpline and they informed me there is something wrong with o2 base station in our area. It has nothing to do with the router. I also inserted sim card into mobile phone but nothing has changed.

Regards,
Shahzad

Hello @ShahzadNabeelpk ,

if there are any issues with stations around your address you can check this yourself through the LiveCheck. You can also request there to be informed about any developments concerning an ongoing issue, that way you’ll know when repairs are finished.

Kind regards, Sven

Hello @ShahzadNabeelpk ,

how are things looking on your end, has the situation concerning your net improved? Is the base station that was having issues near your location back up and running?

Kind regards, Sven

Apparently i have the same issue and it is ongoing since several months with O 2 my Home M. I had a contract and it is finished one month ago, now it is on a month by month. I pay 35,98 euro monthly and can barely get above 4Mb/s. Whatever is sold about crowded, restart the device, or get a 5G device, is all a “bullshit”. The whole thing is just a robbery diluted in all the crappy feedback from the support team, and the fancy word-playing terminologies in the contract (up-to bla bla). In the end it is intentionally limited in the O2 software at the cellular cells, and plays by demand. If you run a video the speed will drop automatically to even a lower limit which is funny. You guys either increase your bandwidth to deliver your promises for your users or just say the truth as it is, that you rent a limited bandwidth that can serve 10 users and sell it to 100s to profit from it. I invested a lot, will consider it a loss, was waiting the contract to finish and cancel this bullshit. Telecommunication services in Germany are way overrated, and O2 ones are the worst. I’ve seen way more better services in other countries. Time to move on.

@Entropy you have absolutely right. O2 is one of the worst companies that I ever dealt with. I'm paying for 250Mbps, I have 14 sometimes 48Mbps. We can't watch Netflix, we can't even work on a laptop. It's shocking.

So 3 weeks ago they sent a technician, he checked all wires in the house, they are OK, then he checked main wire on the main, public road, that wire is damaged. Obviously 2 days ago I spoke to the o2 team and they said "we have nothing on our system about damage wire" and then they asked me who should pay for it.

So yes they will tell you bullshit and they will lie.

2023 and you can't get normal connection speed.

@TomaszK Sorry to hear that. Yeah it can drive someone crazy. Whatever is the issue it is not related to any cabling or connectivity, since you have access to the internet. It is what I call a “Dynamic Limitations” based on the demand, the only explanation for low speed is that they have limited bandwidth (either they own limited infrastructure and the rest is rented or they fully rent) and in turn feed it to their customers. The whole communication system in germany is shaped by bureaucracy. Any one who tells you it is a network issue, or check Netflix servers, or restart your router, or check your computer system update or the cable if your net speed is low, they are actually insulting your intellect. Maybe they can get away with it explaining such things to seniors and pensioners, still, there is no moral in it.

@Entropy Well, actually now, while I'm writing this post, speed that I've got is 5.47 Mbps. It's disgusting, I signed a contract 3 months ago for 2 years, but no chance I'm staying with these cowboys. Allegedly you can terminate your contact if you are not getting at least 50% of your speed so that's my next step

Dear @Entropy ,

welcome to our community. 🏵️

I am sorry to hear that you have so much trouble with your connection.

Your tarriff is now on an monthly base and you can cancel it, if you wish.

I wonder why you are not using DSL on your Address. There we have up to 250 MBit/s available at your address and DSL is much more stable than die mobile network version.

At your address there are currently restrictions in the mobile phone area. The next two stations are currently experiencing outages.

May we offer you a contract extension with a change to a DSL tariff possibly?

Kind regards,

Andrea

Dear @TomaszK ,

have you already called our fault hotline and had a ticket created for you?

Kind regards,

Andrea

I do not know if I should laugh or cry here. Instead of offering a solution for the issue you offer an alternative connection type, thus you admit the issue is there to remain. I will cancel it yeah. But can you give me a solution why it is now below 1mbps nowadays? its been like that for the past 4 days? It used to be around 3.5 to 4Mbps and now this. Well I anticipate additional year with you guys I will be owning you the Mbps from my side to your network. I  mean you still get the 35 euros monthly so where is the delivered value in return? I stay at 13403 in Berlin, at the last floor, I have direct line of sight above all the buildings with any CELL in any direction. What is the big deal here? I appreciate your support though.

Hey @Entropy,

I understand your annoyance in this case. Unfortunately, I can only quote my colleague once again.

At your address there are currently restrictions in the mobile phone area. The next two stations are currently experiencing outages.

In large cities, individual station failures can lead to overload situations. I am very sorry.

Greetings,
Flo

I am using O2 HomeSpot internet plan from September 2023. But from last 1 month I am facing issue with terrible internet speed. I am not able to run single web page on my laptop or mobile phone. I am getting 2Mb/s dataspeed in my home.

This is affecting my work at home badly. Please rectify this issue immediately or please cancel the contract so that I can get contract from other company.

Hello @Omkar77,

welcome to our o2 community 🙂

That is not so good that your internet connection via Homespot is down to 2Mbit/s. Have you looked at our Live Check or already reported a disturbance via the Live Chack?

Best Regards,

Gerrit

I have checked the ‘Live Check’ and it says there is problem in mentioned area. But this is the situation from last 2 months. Its impossible to survive with this internet speed as I can not work at home.

Please cancel the contract or provide some better solution to this.

Thank you

Hey @Omkar77,

its really unfortunate hat things haven't been going well for so long. Of course, you can cancel your contract at any time at the end of the term if you wish. 1 month ago things were going much better? Where are you located, then we can take another look. (For data protection reasons, please do not give the exact address, but a side street)

Kind regards, Lea

Location is Lärchenstr, Griesheim, Frankfurt. Speed was good earlier

Hello @Omkar77 ,

from what I can see from the LiveCheck, is that we are currently having issues at one of the nearby stations, which of course also means that the other stations nearby are under a heavier strain which all contributes to a degree towards your connection. As of right now, we do not know yet, when this station will be operating normally again, as such I can only ask for some patience at this point.

Best regards, Sven
