Hi all,

I have a poor connection in one of my rooms, the farthest from the router, and looking into ways of improving it. The repeater doesn’t seem to be a good solution so I’m looking into something more robust, like a mesh-system.

For example, there is “eero WLAN-Mesh-System” that claims to work miracles in such cases. But will it work with DSL O2? I assume you cannot just plug your DSL cable into it, but maybe I can connect the O2 router with it with a cable?

If it won’t work, what’s the best alternative?

Moin Moin,

switch off the WLAN of the homebox and connect the mash AP via Kabel.

The eero Mesh has no DSL Interface, so you can’t connect the eero dirctly to the DSL Line.

Or buy a FRITZ!Box 7572,3,9] or a 7690. The AVM Router supports Mash.

Thanks! Two questions, sorry I’m not super familiar with this topic. 🙏

  1. How do you turn off WLAN on Homebox?
  2. So FritzBox would be able be connected with eero, for example, without cable?

@pishihod

1.) Press less than one second the WLAN/WPS button on the Homebox 3 (I guess you have model 3)

2.) AVM mesh need for extend AVM hardware. On end extender you can than use normal Wifi devices.

Thanks a lot! I have an older model (my account was set up 7 years ago) but I also found the button! I’ll give it a try

Hello @pishihod, welcome back to our o2 community :-)

Using WiFi can be a challenge now and then. Especially in times where there are dozens of devices in a typical household that connect to a WiFi network.

A Mesh system is a fine solution in such a case. In most cases mesh divices from one brand work best together and not so good in a network with devices from mixed brands. So deactivating the WiFi of the DSL router is a very good tipp and you should get quite an improvement using a Mesh solution :-)

Please get back to us and tell us about your solution and your experience as soon as you tried it out :-)

Regards,

Lars
