Hello,
My contract with O2 will expire on January 19th and I would like to port my number to Vodafone. I tried doing this online through the Vodafone website but I received a message from them that O2 would not release the number because the data provided did not match. I found that O2 has my birthdate incorrect and probably this is the problem. Would you please help me in getting the information corrected and also release the number so it can be ported? Please advise if there is anything else I need to provide from my side in order for O2 to release my number. My number is 0176xxxxxx. I can send you a copy of my German ID to show my correct birthdate and anything else that might be needed.
Thank you!

Dear Kasia1229,
thank you for contacting us.
It is correct, that you can not take your number with you as long as the personal information provided in your profile does not match with that of the new provider.
This matter can be resolved quite easily. You will have to send a copy of your ID to:
Telefónica Germany GmbH & Co. OHG
Kundenbetreuung
90345 Nürnberg
Please also explain the problem in your letter, so that my colleague in Nürnberg knows, that you want to change your date of birth. My colleague will change the date of birth according to your ID. If possible write the letter in german, that might quicken the process.
Thereafter you should contact us again, so that we can release your number, and you can take it to the new provider.
If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. :)
Kind regards,
Ubbine

Dear Ubbine,
Thanks very much for the fast reply! Actually I was able to correct my dat of birth through the online chat but he was not able to help me with getting my number released. Now that my information is correct, could you please release my number? I appreciate your support!
thanks,

Dear Kasia1229,
no problem. 🙂 I have released your number. If you succeed in taking it to the new provider, o2 charges 29,95€ transmitting fee. :)

Dear Ubbine,
Sorry, one more thing...I noticed in the emails I receive from O2 I am addressed as Herr, but I am a Frau so this is also incorrect. When I apply for the SIM card with Vodafone and I fill the data with my name obviously I will put the greeting as Frau. Would this be considered as “not matching” information and would prevent me from Porting my number? Please don’t tell me I have to send a letter to prove I am a woman because O2 for some reason has the wrong greeting. I looked everywhere in my profile but there was no place where this information was even shown so I could not change it.
Thanks again and sorry for the double message.

No, I can assure you that that the form of adress does not interfere with the release or transfer of your number. The title is not regarded in the process. :)
