Hello!
I will be moving abroad on June 31st (that's in 3 months less a day) and would like to cancel my DSL service at that time. My current contract is until 2018 but I have read that 3 months is sufficient notice if moving abroad, but there is a form that o2 must send for me to fill out. Will somebody please advise me on how to cancel the contract and please send whatever forms are necessary?
Many thanks for your help.
Michelle

Hello Michelle,
for an extraordinary dismissal because of moving abroad for a DSL contract you do not need a special form.
You just need to write a letter of cancellation with the reason and you also have to hand in the deregistration form of your current place of residence in Germany, and a registration form (or a confirmation of your new employer/ university) of your new place of residence abroad. And the last thing is also the letter of agreement that o2 is allowed to charge 3 monthly basic fees as a replacement, to end the contract before the normal runtime end.
The address is this one:
Telefónica Germany GmbH & Co. OHG
Postfach 60 09 40
22209 Hamburg
Keep in mind that you also have to send back the DSL router that you got for the contract!
Kind regards,
Jessica

Hi Jessica,
Thanks for your response! A few questions to clarify...
1. the de-registration from Germany, I can send you a copy not the original yes?
2. I'm moving to Canada where there is no such thing as a residence registration, and I'm self-employed so I can't ask my employer for a letter. Is there something else I can submit instead? A plane ticket or ...?
3. the letter of agreement with regards to o2 charging 3 monthly fees: is this a specific letter that I obtain from o2? Or is this something I should write into the letter of cancellation?
4. in order to return the router, do I just pack it into a box and include a note with my address/account number? And to which address do I send it?
Thanks again,
Michelle

Hi Jessica,
I have requested to cancel my O2 contract and received the confirmation letter from O2. As per the letter my DSL - internet will be deactivated from 30 Apr 2017, but from 9 Apr 2017 the internet is not working. Can you please assist me how to rectify? Also, let me know where to send the router and when?

Hi Jessica, could you please clarify the "letter of agreement" whereby o2 can charge 3 months - is this a separate letter or is it to be included in the same letter?
Hello Michelle,
1.- yes, you can also send a copy. Original is always for yourself!
2.- a plane ticket won't be accepted. But I guess a letter of yourself on formal company paper or anything should be enough, explaining that.
3.- it's just a letter that you write by yourself for DSL contracts
4.- for the returning of the router we have some DSL specialists that know more about that than me (I usually work only with mobile contracts)@VoIP-Droide , Jogi.
Kind regards,
Jessica

The 3 months fee is defined in our telecomminication law (TKG): § 46 TKG Anbieterwechsel und Umzug - dejure.org
Hi,
thanks for flowers dear@o2_Jessica
Returnig the router is very easy. If you have the original box there inclouds a free return label, fill with your data, close the box and take it to the next post office, there you get a letter with a sending number, please take it for the next two years at home.
If you lost the return lable you can print here o2.de another one, please scroll at the bottom of the page and press on "Rücksendeschein" and follow the instuctions, fill yourre data and put the lable on your sending box.
Greetz
Edit: and another day the VoIP-Droide was faster

Hi i sent my letter to o2 to cancel my contract i believe more than 3 months ago, but I'm still being charged. I have sent the router back just to be clear and it's been accepted by you. Since I'm living abroad now I don't want to call in to try to solve this as I would be charged too much. How can I get this issue fixed?
Hello keewwoon,
I had a look into this. We recieved the necessary documets in October, the contract was ternminated on the fifth of November. Up to this time the base fee will be charged.
Regards,
Lars
