I switched the sim in my 2.5 year old phone from a Giffgaff to an o2 Prepaid s when I moved to Germany. It works fine there with internet and everything. However when I go back to England I have loads of problems with my phone. On restarting my phone I might get signal and internet for one or two minutes and then it disappears but most of the time I don't get anything at all. And then there's nothing and my phone says emergency calls only. What do I need to change for it to work when I'm abroad? I can't say if it's everywhere abroad or just England as I haven't travelled with it yet.
Thanks in advance 🙂

Have you tried selecting a different network manually? There is a possibility that your SIM is not activated for use abroad, but then you shouldn't even get a signal for a few minutes.
