Hello, Could anyone help me. I have moved to United States since 2 months now. I have requested to cancel my contract a couple of times but I have just received an email today saying that I still having contract for one more year. It is really unacceptable that a company in 2019 continues to request cancellations to be done via FAX or POST!!! Why you make it so easy to make new contracts and then put so many complications to terminate the contracts? the answer seems easy and also very mean. I hope to get a quick answer. I wish you all merry xmas.
Hi Javier.

Thanks for your feedback. To cancel via letter or fax is quite common in Germany. This is because not long ago it was a requirement by law to send a physical, signed text to end a contract. Many processes still use this form because it's still part of many, partially pre-defined, contracts. Maybe this will change in the future. Untill then, we can only offer the contact channels given on the form linked below.

We do offer a special process for cases like yours. If you hand in a German deregistration and a proof of the foreign stay, we can end the contract immediately for a fee of three monthly charges.

If you haven't got a German deregistration, please contact the town office of the town you lived in. The "Bürger Büro" or "Einwohnermeldeamt" should offer a copy.

A proof of a foreign stay could be a foreign registration. In countries without registration system, you can hand in a copy of your rental or employment contract.

To cancel and grant your permission to charge the fee, there is a form:
