Hello everyone!

I bought a contract from O2 with Handy. It is iPhone 6 Plus.
I sent the iPhone to my wife back to my country i.e. Pakistan. It worked fine for few days, than after an iOS update it stopped getting signals.
In the settings it shows carrier name but at the status bar of phone it either keep showing "searching" or "no services".

I tried customer service of Apple Store, they say it shows lock from O2 side. O2 says, you either have to contact Apple Store or the service provider in Pakistan i.e. the network being used. Network provider i.e. ufone pakistan, says it has nothing to do with them.

I am really not sure what to do. Anyone please can help me in this regard. Any O2 official are highly requested.

Please help.

Thanks.

Hello waqar013,

any phone bought from o2 germany does neither has a sim nor a net lock, so it should be possible tu use it with any sim card that you wish to use.

If an iPhone has such a lock, it will show up as soon as you restart your iPhone, it will be something like "This iPhone will not work with this sim card"

Wjat you can try is to reset the iphone using iTunes on your PC with the sim card inserted in the iPhone.

Since you said it already worked with this sim card ist can't have a sim or net lock since if it had, it would have never worked with this sim card before.

By the way: Have you used this iPhone witrh your o2 sim card here in germany before shipping it to Pakistan?

Regards,

Lars

Hi O2_Lars,

Thanks for the response.

#1. Yes I did used with O2 sim before shipping it to Pakistan. I think it was necessary for the start.
#2. My wife has also tried resting it with iTunes. But all in vain.

#3. iPhone never said it can't load the sim or sim can't be used on this iPhone.

I happened to know a same case with iPhone from Vodafone from UK - And it was vodafone who solved the issue. It seems the same issue, but I can't say it with 100% surety.

What can be done?

Kind regards

Hello waqar013,

I informed our technical departement who will try to verify if there is some kind of lock on this phone and if this is the case will try to take the necessary steps to remove it.

Regards,

Lars

Edit: Our technical departmenet was able to verify that there is NO kind of lock (neither sim lock nor net lock) activated for this device.

What you definetely have to do is to use iTunes on the PC and connect the iPhone with the local sim card and use the recovery function on iTunes on the PC. I am sure it will work if this is done.

Regards,

Lars
