Cancel my contract but retain my number

Hi, I have taken O2 Blue Basic contract on 10/2015 for 2 years. I would like to cancel the contract but retain my number. Can you please let me know the possible ways?

To retain your mobile number you need a contract.

You can not own a number without any contract.

You can terminate your contract and switch to prepaid.

o2 will charge 29,95€ for the number portability.

    Hi Katja,

          I would like to cancel my contract from October and would not like to extend it any more. Do I need to write any official letter or can you treat this message as reference to cancel the contract? Please let me know the possible ways. Thanks in advance...

    To cancel your contract you have to send a letter or a fax to o2:





    o2 Handyvertrag kündigen: Tipps zur Kündigung ansehen 

    To play it safe i would write the cancelation in german as well:

    "Hiermit kündige ich meinen Mobilfunkvertrag mit der Rufnummer 0xxx-xxxxxx (mobile phone number) fristgerecht zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt.

    Bitte senden sie mir, auch gern per Mail, eine Kündigungsbestätigung."
