Upgrade to Samsung S9 and pay in full for my previous contract


Hello,

I have bought my Samsung S8 on contract from O2. However, I would like to pay for the mobile in full and upgrade to the latest Samsung S9. Please let me know how can I do this.

Secondly, my Samsung S8 is locked i.e can be used for EU sim cards only. Please let me know how can I unlock the mobile so that non-EU sim card can be used.

welcome to the o2 community!

In order to pay the outstanding sum for your current phone at once, please send in this form by which you allow Telefonica/o2 to debit the whole amount from your account.
You can then order a new phone at o2online, please remember to click on the "Ohne o2 Tarif" button to make sure you order just the phone without an additional contract.

In regards to the SIM lock, @Sächsin has already provided a useful link in her reply.

@o2_Jan Do I need to send the completed form by post or can I email it? If it is possible to just email the completed form, please let me know where I should send it.

Secondly, how long does it take to conclude the previous contract once I've submitted the form.

things just got even easier: :)

Since you stated here that you actually want to end the contract in advance (and not just thinking about it) I have just submitted your request in our data system.
In other words: You do not need to send in the form anymore.

Your phone contract (not your tariff contract) will now end in mid-October, some time after that the whole outstanding sum will be debited from your account.

Hi @o2_Jan,

Thank you for submitting the request for the termination. My o2 customer portal says that the termination request has been successfully completed. However, the amount has not been debited from my account.

The portal states that 'Die vorzeitige Vertragsauflösung Ihres O2 My Handy Vertrages ist erfolgreich durchgeführt worden. Ihr O2 My Handy Vertrag wird bzw. ist beendet. Das Datum entnehmen Sie bitte dem Schreiben, welches Ihnen gesondert per Post zugeht'

Please let me know what I have to do with this letter that will be delivered by post. Also I have just updated my billing address so all correspondence including this letter be sent to this address.

Hi @Saad123,

you won't need to do anything with the upcoming letter, it will simply inform you about the exact date when the contract will be terminated: according to the data I currently have, this will be within the first two weeks of November.
That is also roughly the date when the final sum will be debited from your account.
