Hi, I am using O2 contract for more than a year. I would be traveling to India and would like to use an indian sim in the same handy. Would I be able to do so? As I received to numbers from O2, Can I keep one German number active and use one Indian number? Its iphone xs dual sim phone

You can do that in a dual SIM phone. Make sure that the SIM with data is the national SIM and not the o2 SIM!
Think of high costs for data and incoming calls when you are abroad (non-EU).
Will I be able to recieve SMS with my same contract on the O2 sim?

You can receive both calls and SMS with the o2 card as a second SIM card.
The best thing to do is to check directly with Apple what exactly you have to set so that it works.
