Cancelling o2 sim

Hi,
I purchased an o2 sim with a device on a 2 year contract which ended in october 2018. Since now my device is fully paid, i wanted to discontinue/cancel my sim because i cannot afford the monthly amount I pay. I went to the O2 store and they asked me to send a letter to o2 and because i did not cancel 3 months before the contract end-line i would have to pay for another year i.e till October 2019. If I send in the letter this month would it be possible to cancel the sim sooner? And even if not, would the cancellation till October 2019 be guaranteed?

What do you mean with international minutes?

If you like to have international minutes from Germany to a European country, please find the options here: www.o2online.de/service/vertrag-tarif/ausland-roaming/
Please click on the point "Ins Ausland".

I regret that you like to cancel your contract.

As you did not cancel your contract 3 months before, we only have the possibility to cancel your contract to the 25th October 2019. Unfortunately, an earlier date is not possible.

If you like to cancel your contract, please send a cancellation letter to the following address:

or by fax to the following number: 01805 571 766.

If you like, I can check if I can find an attractive offer for the next 24 months for you. Would this be a good alternative for you?
