Terminate mobile contract / Vertrag schliessen


Hello. 

I have a mobile contract o2 which must run at least 2 years. The contract was signed in February 2020, so it will soon be 2 years, and therefore I should be able to terminate it. The point is that I do not live in Germany since March 2020 and I cannot sign in my personal account (I do not remember my password and login). What should I do in this case? I read in this forum that there is some paper form one must fill in in order to request  contract termination. Is this still the case? If yes, where do I find this form?

I have a couple of additional questions. 

  1. I read in the FAQ the following:

Notice Periods:

Mobile tariffs with a minimum contract term of 24 months do have a notice period of 3 months. If you do not cancel your contract in time, your contract will run for another 12 months.

What does this notice period mean? If my contract was signed in Feb. 2020, and I want to stop it, does this notice period imply that I should have done this 3 months ago, and now my contract has to run for 12 more months? 

  1. I also read that an extraodinary cancellation is possible due to muving abroad. I did not know about this option back then when I moved and have been paying for my contract for almost 2 years without living in Germany. If I provide the documents needed for extraordinary cancellation, can I by any chance get a refund for the period I was not living in Germany?

Hello @mvartanyan782,

since December 2021, all our contracts have only one month notice period after the two years minimum duration. So it makes it easier for you to cancel also on a short term.

I will have this FAQ corrected accordingly.

You can also use this form for your cancellation: Kündigungsformular and send it to the adress or fax number on top of it.

Hello @mvartanyan782,

since the contract can be terminated within a month after the minimal contract time of 24 months is over there is no real difference now if you just cancel  or you cancel because you moved abroad.

If you are still within the 24 montsh contract running time you will find further information what documents are needed to cancel prior to the nominal end time of the contact in our english FAQ :-)

Thanks for the answer, I tried to send a fax with a letter of termination, however it could not be delivered, because there is something wrong with the number. Could you please let me know whether this number is correct +491805571766? If yes, it does not work for me, is there another fax number?

Dear @mvartanyan782 ,

the number is the right one, but the 0180 is a special call number. It is possible, that it doesn’t work from other countries. You can sent you cancellation by letter dispatch to:
