Switch from DSL to O2 box

Hello O2 friends, in my DSL connection in the town that I live I have a lot of problems with a lot of disconnection events and also with a lot of problems due to the low speed that I have it (only 16mbps). For me is very important to get an stable connection and in some cases I use my mobile phone as a hotspot to do some meetings when I need to share some content (i.e. training sessions). So, I read that the O2 hotspot reach speeds of 225Mbps as a maximum speed and the minimum are close to 32Mbps(is just the double that I have today), even if the latency is greater than the DSL connection, for me will works because with latency below to 150ms is ok for me. The thing that I need is, as I have a contract for the DSL line for 2 years (beginning in June this year), is possible to cancel this contract to get the O2 Hotspot for me?. I tried to call to O2 hotline but my German level is still too basic to do this step and the persons that attends to me in the hotline only speaks German. I hope that somebody here could help me with this.

@Leo_chile I strongly recommend to improve your DSL line speed, before you switch to an o2 Homespot tariff.

OK, What say the online Availability check from the Telekom and o2 Homepage for (V)DSL for your adress? And I hope you don’t use an o2 Homebox as a router.

Ok, I understood you, but all providers offers only 16Mbps in my address, is so sad.

The only solution is to tell to my family that they are not allow to use the Wifi meanwhile I be in home.

@Leo_chile who is the LTE speed at your home. Translate this thread. The guy have have problems with the phone, that we solve.

But like you. Slow DSL Connection and he use LTE as a booster. He have a Fritzbox 6890 and use DSL/LTE together.

Hi Joe, the LTE speed for Vodaphone is 50Mbps in my area, in the O2 mobile phones that I have I got 10Mbps, because the service of the both mobile phones that I have is limited to 10Mbps, but I saw that less than 3Kms from my house there is a new O2 antenna, in fact, some weeks ago we got only 3G and sometimes EDGE service in my area with the mobile phones and now we got constantly 4G with a full signal strengt.

Finally, if I need to pay more to get a new better connection, I’m available. For the moment, the only possibility to move to another vendor is to a Netcom-Kassel that offers a fiberglass service with 40Mbps.

So, thanks for your answer, this means that the only way to get the service that I expected is to end the DSL contract and take another one using fiberglass?...I’m really surprised with this situation, because I’m coming from a Chile (South America) and in the sites when you don’t have Fiber or HFC you will get WiMax and when all the 3 options are not available, you will have the chance to get DSL(today is less than 5% of all connections), in fact, in Chile I used an HFC connection with 600Mbps and in the last days before my assignment to Germany I received an offer from Movistar (O2 in America) to connect at the same rate at 900Mbps speed including IP-TV thru FO. BTW, here the situation is different and I would like to continue being an O2 customer, but if the company doesn’t have the chance to provide a better service in my address, sadly, I will to move.

@Leo_chile i think you need a stable internet connection for home office. And this fiber in my eyes. I don’t know where you live. Every time remember, that you share the bandwidth from a 4G station with other people. If you working at night no problem, on the day it can down to 5-10Mbit.

O2 folks, Independent of the bandwidth that you provided to my poor DSL connection, I guess that the major issues that I experienced daily are with the router that O2 provide, it’s really a nightmare when you are in the middle of Teams session or even when you are using VPN to connect to your systems and your router start to do package-drop and increase the jitter. Usually in the morning time, when I’m alone in my house, I have some connectivity issues with the O2 router with my computer (with or without VPN). I hope that you have the tools to make a check in the equipment to check if it is a problem of the router or definetely is a problem of the DSL connection.

@Leo_chile an o2 Homebox is not the best idea if you make Home Office. :rolling_eyes: If I am you I would look a Fritzbox 7530 or 7590.

Did you recommend that I take care about the router?, not make sense because I’m paying for the “internet service” and this is the service that I don’t receive.

@Leo_chile You use the cheapest basic router from o2. I only recommend o2 Homebox for elderly people who need landline and Internet. 
If you use VPN this type of router have sometimes problems

ok, is not the answer that I expect but I saw, with a lot of frustrating feelings, that the providers work in the same way all over the world.
