Issues about cancel contract

Edit: Beitrag verschoben und Rufnummer enfernt (andante)

I’m an exchange student study just one semester at Mannheim University. On August 23th, I bought a 02 blue flex contract sim card which would cost me 10 euro/month and I was persuaded to pay 30 euros for a valid fee which can enable me to drop out from the contract whenever I want.

Nowadays, I’m going to leave Germany in January 10th since I only exchange for one semester. I once thought what I paid for 30 euros for the flexibility means that I can cancel my contract directly at one of the shops in Mannheim. But yesterday(December 24th) when I went to the O2 shop located at P5 on the main street of Mannheim. The two female shopkeepers just told me I can’t cancel my contract directly and I must write a letter to the headquarters.

I just wonder I paid the 30 euros for what? I would not pay the extra 30 euros at the shop if I had known I can’t cancel the contract directly as the shop manager once said. I can directly buy a cheaper card which has no flexibility on O2 website!

I want to cancel my phone cardncontract before I leave Germany on Jan 10th since I have the flexibility right. My phone number is 0176XXXXXXX.

Thanks.

Hello!

I have removed your mobile number and move your post in the correct forum.
This is a customer forum where customers help other customers mainly.
For cancellation you need to really use the hotline and make this writing.

Fax: 01805 - 57 17 66 (0,14 €/Min. aus dem dt. Festnetz. Mobilfunkhöchstpreis: 0,42 €/Min.)

Telefónica Germany GmbH & Co OHG
Kundenbetreuung
90345 Nürnberg

Best of luck!

A Flex contract has no minimum contract period and can be terminated by giving 30 days notice in writing. What you have paid 30 Euros for is simply the connection charge. No o2 contract can be cancelled directly in a shop - you have to do this in writing. Simply send a letter (ideally recorded delivery (Einschreiben)) to the address andante posted and say that you wish to terminate your contract at the next possible date (which will be in 30 days). If posssible ask someone who speaks German to write the letter for you to avoid any problems or misunderstanding.

Thx for your kindness.

I've tried to call the customer number but it was only speak in German...

However I've sent a letter to them.

Thank you.

I've already sent a express letter on Dec 24th, but it was written in English.

Does it matter if I didn't write a German version?

Btw, could you please tell me which is the correct forum?

Thx ☺️

Your thread is already in the correct forum, as andante moved it here.

Regarding the letter in English: As this is a customer forum it is not possible for us to say here whether that will be OK, but you might ask a German friend to phone customer services next week to see whether the letter has been received and the termination accepted. The hotline agent will see that in the system. If not the friend can perhaps send another letter for you in German. Unfortunately the o2 hotline agents are often unable or unwilling to offer assistance in English. Sometimes it can help to just call again, but the best solution is probably to have a friend call for you who can speak German. Be with them when they call to answer any questions. They will need to know your mobile number and your 4 digit customer code.

I am an international student doing masters in flensburg and have been using O2 since 10months now i have to move to Netherlands for my thesis so i would like to cancel my contract could anyone help me with the  process.

Hi sharath152,

when moving abroad you can cancel your mobile phone contract to an earlier date. We need a proof of your deregistration in Germany and of your new foreign domicile. If you agree with the invoicing of the
basic fee for 3 months we can deactivate your contract to a date chosen by you. I just sent you an email with the form we need filled in and signed by you. The whole process an needed documents are listet on that form.

Best regards

Ilona

Dear Ilona

I am in the same situation as abow, and most probably will leave germany on 1th september, my contract is "o2 blue select" and I pay 17-18 euroes per month. I need to terminate my contract before I leave, it is in 4 month but I thought maybe it is better to start acting earlier. could you please send me the forms and required documents as well?

Thank you in advance ☺️

Hello Marieh,

i just sent you an email with the form regarding "cancellation of your mobile phone number due to moving abroad".

In order to cancel your contract out of good will to an earlier date, we require copies of the following
documents:

- a deregistration certificate of your present place of residence
- a notification of your new, foreign domicile
- alternatively a confirmation of your employer or landlord

With regards,

Ronny

Hi,
I have the same problem
I wonder if get invoicing of the basic fee for 3 months  can I deactivate my contract to a date chosen by me?

Benutzerebene 1
Hi solati,

i sent you an email with the form. Indeed, you are able to deactivate your contract to a date chosen by you. There is a special line for that, where you can fill in a date. But its required to give us your approval to charge you the all-inclusive basic fee for 3 months.

Regards,

Ronny

Hello,

I need also the form to cancel my contract before 09.07.2014.Can anyone send me the form? And I forgot my custom number, where can I get it?

Is the address for the contract cancellation:

Telefónica Germany GmbH & Co OHG

Kundenbetreuung

90345 Nürnberg

Best regards,

Duy

Hi,

the address ist correct.

You don't need your custom number in order to cancel your contract, your mobile number is sufficient to identify you.

The form should be sent to you by one the moderators of this forum, as soon as one of them will have read your post.

Kind regards,

Fuchs

Hi,

Is it right that I can cancel the contract by paying 3-months fee and no further documents are required?

Could you, please, send me the form?

Hi kms-Julie,

it's not correct that no further documents are required. I quote from an earlier post in this thead:

"In order to cancel your contract out of good will to an earlier date, we require copies of the following
documents:

- a deregistration certificate of your present place of residence
- a notification of your new, foreign domicile
- alternatively a confirmation of your employer or landlord"

I am convinced that one of the forum-moderators will send you the form as soon as one of them will be online again and read your request.

Regards,

Fuchs

Hello kms-Julie,

i've sent you the form. Please fill in and send it back to the o2-address. The documents, we need from you are listed in the form.

Hi there O2_R o nny,

I currently have a 2 year contract did O2 DSL runs out next year. Due to a sudden change in Circumstances I will be leaving the country at the end of the year.  Can I cancel my contract on a specific date and pay the fee you Described?

If so, could you please forward the form.

Thanks,

Sam

hello

I'm also in the process of filling the cancellation form, and wanted to clarify few points:

"- alternatively a confirmation of your employer or landlord"

alternatively here means: either a confirmation from my employer or a confirmation from my landlord?

employer refers to the new or the old employer?

for "- a notification of your new, foreign domicile", does an offer letter/contract/foreign working visa suffice? or, which kind of notification are you expecting here?

how much does "all-inclusive basic fee" costs, or how is it called in German so I could find the cost myself.

last one, if the "next possible date" for cancellation is 1.10, and I want my phone to work until 15.10, the 3 months fee will be from 1.10.2014-1.1.2015 or 15.10.2014-15.1.2014? If I understood correctly from previous comments it should be 1.10.2014-1.1.2015...

thanks!

Dear O2 cust. service,

I had followed all the threads, but my request is a little bit different. I would like that my contract ends withing the terms of the actual contract, so my contract ends on November and I don't want to renewe it. But I would like to keep my number as a prepaid number.

What should I do?

Thanks.

Warm regards,

JavB

No one replys? Please, I need to do it on time. Thanks.

Hi @JavB,

unfortunately it is not possible to transfer a number from a regular contract to prepaid within the same company.

If you would like to change to a different company, you have to order the transfer of your number there.

If you want to do so before the end of the term, you have first to inform the old company. You can call the hotline, so they make a so so-called "Opt In".

Fuchs

Hi JavB,

Fuchs is right 😉

Javb, do you have any further questions about it?

Regards

Yvonne

Thanks for the answer. Sorry to read it too late.

It is a shame that here in Germay this is not possible. Nowadays looks ridiculous such an action. Anyway it is a critic from the system and I know that is not a particular German behaivour, I don't want to sound rough, is a politic on most TSP to keep cautive the customers.

Anyway, thanks for the help. I just filled the form to cancel the contract and send by fax.

Warm regards.

Javier

I'm also thinking of cancellation because I may get a job overseas. Could someone please send me the form too?
