I once again had the pleasure of taking a closer look at a test device provided by o2. This time it was the FRITZ!Box 7530 International Version (AVM No. 20002845).
AVM FRITZ!Boxes are widely used in Germany, and o2 currently supplies the 7490 and 7590 models as loaned routers to customers for use with their (V)DSL connections. These are both very good devices for the ordinary home user. Unfortunately, the devices distributed by o2 have a significant disadvantage: The entre user interface is in German. This is where the 7530 International Version shines. It offers the following system languages: German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch and Polish. In addition, numerous countries in the EU, South America, Africa and Asia are also covered by the regional settings.
The FRITZ!Box 7530 International Version supports the automatic setup of telephony via the TR-069 protocol during commissioning for o2 (V)DSL, regardless of the language which was selected for the initial setup. o2 Technical Support staff are also able to assist the customer more easily because they are using an AVM FRITZ!Box.
Let’s take a look at the technical specifications:

Included in the box: 7530 router, power supply, 1 LAN cable and 1 DSL cable (wires 4 and 5 in use) but NO TAE plug (for connection to a German standard telephone socket). This means that either a TAE plug or a DSL IP cable with TAE plug needs to be purchased separately. I personally recommend a DSL IP cable with TAE plug to reduce the possibility of connection faults. This can be obtained either directly from AVM or from larger selling platforms.

And now for the most important part: the multi-language support. Before we start, I should point out that it is not possible to flash update a German 7530 version to an international version.
Let’s start with the set-up process:
Here is the overview of the languages and just some of the countries. You should, of course, set up your router for the region Deutschland/Germany.
And now we come to the important part. When using the profile o2 and the region Germany, the Fritzbox 7530 International automatically fetches the SIP data for o2 telephony via the TR-069 protocol and configures it in the router.
I only had the 7530 in use for just under 3 weeks. The VDSL connection was completely stable and I experienced no problems at all with the Wi-Fi or telephony.
