Pre-paid SIM activation, what should I do if my document cannot be validated by your systems?

Hi, I cannot activate the SIM I ordered from your website because the service you use for the identity validation doesn't support some arbitrary European ID documents.

I have a regular Italian ID card, valid across the entire Europe, which I used to register in Germany without any problem. But Postident, also when I physically visited a post office, refuse to validate my SIM because my ID card is not supported by their systems.

I tried to ask for information in 2 of your official stores in Berlin, the first told me they couldn't do anything, the second one tried to sell me a subscription service.

I'm honestly very disappointed. I'm an UE citizen with valid documents who is registered as resident in Germany. I cannot become your customers because your procedure have big gaps and you don't even provide the required support in your stores.

Now I expect a solution to activate my SIM.

Best regards

Davide

My document is a valid id card equiparable to passport in alle the UE countries. It's not my problem, I'm a potential customer O2 is loosing, among many others who chose to not report the problem. Actually, I'm discriminated without any valid reason.

You know, I had the same problem with an online bank that, in Italy, accepts paper id cards while in Germany doesn't. Simply changed bank for my German account.

O2 shops don't help. Contacting the official support without validating the SIM appears difficult, and here I'm getting help by other users instead or their staff.

Maybe not being able to validate the SIM is a good thing...

Deutsche Post does not accept your ID card.
o2 only gets the information, whether the verification of your data was successful or not.

Sorry, but there is nothing o2 can solve.

Hi!
The identification by post or video ident is not carried out by o2 itself.
An insufficiently secured passport / ID card is a problem of the Italian Government.

Buy a starter pack in an o2 store or Media Markt/Saturn and register the sim card directly there.

Using the 'Official authenticated registration Document" (+ID-card), which You can get where you registered yourself in Germany, should do the trick, too!

This is simply false. I'm a potential customer, O2 uses a partner for ID checking that doesn't work properly so it's an O2 problem. I have a SIM just sitting on my desk and I cannot do anything with it. O2 sustained costs to send this stuff to my home, so, they should care about it.

Furthermore, they have shops all across Germany to validate the identity of people who cannot complete the process with Posteident. But if you go to a store it looks like this is not possible.

Still, no official response here, sounds like looking it's better to look for an alternative solution.

The o2 shops can not activate a pre-registered SIM card (an o2 Freikarte ordered online). It seems that you know the system better than me. OK.
