Where had my money gone?


Hello. Currently I'm out of EU, namely in roaming area. On July 25th I received a call from Germany and its duration was 3 mins 20 seconds. Although I had 10 euro in my prepaid account, the cal was cut. According to O2 employee the cost of call in my situation is 1.59 euro per minute. That means 3 mins 20 seconds had to make 5.3 euro. Now I see I have zero balance in my account. Why? If I had 10 euro and spent 5.3 euro, then why balance is zero? Please look at screenshots.

You can see online what it was used for.

Check the account online
You can find details about your tariff under My O2. In addition, you can view the balance and fees of your O2 prepaid card via O2 Prepaid Kontocheck.

Check the following areas under "Mein o2"

Could you find out what happened to your balance?

Hello. Thanks for these info but it's not helpful. Actually I want O2 officials tell me why my money evaporated. I clearly wrote in my previous message that, 10 euro has gone for 3 mins 20 secs call although O2 official texted me that 1 min costs 1,59 euor. I want you guys tell me why this has happened? I wrote this question to official Facebook page of O2 but they forwarded me here. The lost money is  not that big but still I think it is a fraud.

It's already 4-5 days that I'm trying to find an answer for this problem, but nobody helps. For me only one way remains: to share these screenshots and message on social media and tell people to refrain from using O2.

I checked I pissed off more severely now. Why I was charged 2.99 euro for non-answer call? You mentioned it 0.1 seconds but it was non-answered call. It is fucking daylight robbery!

Additionally why 6.97 euro for 3m 20s call? AGAIN, O2 employees told me that 1 fucking minute costs 1.59 euro!

I have now checked your concern and your question about the pricing of your phone calls.

The pricing is quite correct which you can see in that summary. I'm sorry if you got the wrong information, maybe it was a misunderstanding. But you can check the prices by yourself in the prepaid price list: https://static2.o9.de/blob/10317106/v=74/Binary/preisliste-prepaid.pdf 

Point number 5 is about the conditions abroad. And there you can also check the costs for the outgoing and incoming calls.

There you can see:



The first 4 points which I marked in yellow are the costs for outgoing calls. These are 2,99€ per minute. Even if it was a blocked call and you just got the mailbox or anything it is a phone connection that has been made. Hence the price is correct.

For your phone call which lasted 3:20 minutes it is the last one in yellow: incoming calls. Which is 1,59€ per minute with a timing device per minute, which means: every minute that has been started will be priced with 1,59€. For your that means it is 4 x 1,59€ = 6,39€, which is a difference to your costs of 6,97€ of about 0,61 €. For that I will give you back 1€ on your prepaid card, but everything else has been priced correctly.

Thanks for your detailed information. 

1. Blocked/Missed call for 2.99 euro?! That's terribly crazy. I'll definitely avoid to use O2 once I get another sim card. And I'll surely share this information on different social media groups in Germany, hoping at least others will not suffer the same trick.

2. "For your that means it is 4 x 1,59€ = 6,39€, which is a difference to your costs of 6,97€ of about 0,61 €. " - after this statement how can I trust to O2? Now, who can guarantee that there was no such a "differences" before?

Please don't take my words personally, all my complaints about O2.

I have one more information, because I wrote something wrong. Thanks to our expert @TBCMagic‌ who contacted me about that! ☺️

My mistake is this information:

For your phone call which lasted 3:20 minutes it is the last one in yellow: incoming calls. Which is 1,59€ per minute with a timing device per minute, which means: every minute that has been started will be priced with 1,59€. For your that means it is 4 x 1,59€ = 6,39€, which is a difference to your costs of 6,97€ of about 0,61 €.

The timing device is not per minute (got the information wrong in my head), but it is 60/10. Sometimes, as we say, you do not see the forest because of all the trees.

And sometimes all the numbers and different kinds of pricing is a little bit confusing, I am sorry for that.

Let me explain that now:

the timing device is 60/10, which means the pricing is: 1,59 * 3 + 1,59/3 = 5,30 €. So the difference to your costs of 6,97€ is: 1,67€. I'll give you back another euro then. ☺️

Actually the price list is what it should be. In other countries it's also possible that the other provider, which network you are using, could take some money as well. That depends on the countries and also on the provider. Best would be if you'd contact them in the country where you are to check that. Otherwise, if they say they didn't charge something, we could forward that issue so that it gets checked.

Hi Jessica,

Your calculation might be wrong, that's normal. But the fact that O2 charged me 1.67 euro (31.5%) more is ridiculous. Hell knows how many people are being charged in such a way everyday. You can take those 2 euros back, I don't need them.

My life is not your business, stick to your job. As I said, Jessica's mistake is normal, but O2's not. It is a terrible mistake for such a big corporation. Maybe it is not a mistake but trick to squeeze the money form people. I'm done with this topic here, plz don't convert it into chat.
