Hello O2 Experts

Dear O2 experts,

I have a monthly contract that rolls over every month. I sent a letter on the 10th of April. I sent it with deutsche post tracking applied and I see that it was received by O2 Nuernburg on the 12 th of April. I want to be sure that the monthly contract has been cancelled as I have taken up a 24 month contract with O2. I have not received any notification form O2 itself to indicate that the contract has been cancelled; neither SMS, email, letter or a note in my internet portal.

Once O2 have received a cancellation notice, what is the process ? Do they send you a SMS ?

For this short period I have two contracts, a monthly contract and a new 24 month contract. I want to assure that I don't have to pay for the montly contract for any period longer than I should.

Kind regards,

Spottie

Seperate confirmations by a letter or an e-mail may last  a while. Principally o2 confirms cancellations in the invoices, see the last page of the next one below the line "Gut zu wissen". Apart from that, please wait here for an o2_moderator to confirm your cancellation by a post in this community.

Hi Spottie,

herewith I can confirm your cancellation now! ☺️

Your mobile number (ending with -802) will get deactivated at the 13th of May 2018!

Kind regards,

Jessica

Thanks Jessica.

That is a great weight of my mind.

In  the cancellation letter that I sent to O2, I asked that if I could retain the number (ending -802), in prepaid contract; once the monthly contract has been cancelled. What reply can I expect with respect to that request ?

Kind regards,

Spottie

Hi @Spottie‌,

of course you can keep your phone number if you want to. Therefore you need to port the number to the prepaid sim card. ☺️

Kind regards,

Jessica

Hi Jessica,

How can I port the number to a prepaid sim ? Must I wait until after the 13th of May to do this ? How soon after the 13th of May must I do it to assure that it doesn't get reallocated ?

Kind regards,

Spottie

Hi Spottie,

thank you for your questions. ☺️

If you want to port your Number to a prepaid SIM card, you can initiate the porting here:

www.o2.de/mein-tarif/rufnummer-mitnehmen

If your prepaid provider is also from the Telefonicá brand, the port is free.

If you take your o2 number to another brand, you will be charged 29,95€ for the transfer.
You don´t have to worry about your number getting reallocated too soon. You have at least 90 days to port it.

Kind regards,
Ubbine

Thanks Ubbine. Very much appreciated

Hi Ubbine,

Yesterday I visited  two O2 stores. One did not have a prepaid SIM to sell me, and the other told me that he could sell me the SIM card, but that I wouldn't be able to port my old number to that card. He didn't seem confident about the process, and so as to avoid buying a SIM card with an unchangeable number, I thought  that I would not purchase the SIM card, and instead follow up my last question with a couple more questions.

1. How do  I order a SIM card to which I will port an old number ? I am not sure if I have to specify that I intend to port an old number to the SIM card that I am buying. If the SIM card already has a number assigned to it, doe the port just deallocate the number ?

2. If I purchase the SIM card in a store I presume that I could get the SIM card registered on the spot. If I purchase it online from O2, I understand that I will have to either visit  store or a post office with my ID as to register it. Is this correct ?

3. Should the port process take place before the SIM card is registered ?

Kind regards,

Spottie

Hey Spottie,

thank you very much for keeping us updated. ☺️

Since you wanted to purchase the prepaid SIM in an o2 store, I take that you want to stay with us.

There is nothing wrong with purchasing the prepaid SIM in a store, and registrate it there. The porting process has to be initiated online, by you. The store employee can not do this for you. You can do this, using the link I posted before and at the end of this post. ☺️

Another way to get a prepaid SIM is to use our web page: Prepaid-Karte: Günstige o2 Prepaid-Tarife für Handy & Internet.

Choose the type of card you want, get it delivered to your home,

register the card to your name (you are correct, in order to do so you need to "either visit  store or a post office with my ID as to register it"),

activate it using this link: www.o2.de/mein-prepaid/sim-aktivieren and then

initiate the porting here: https:///external-link.jspa?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.o2.de%2Fmein-tarif%2Frufnummer-mitnehmen

I hope I could help you, please keep us updated and feel free to ask, if you have any more questions.

Kind regards,

Ubbine

You are welcome. ☺️

Hi Ubbine,

I went to an O2 store in person and purchased a SIM card. The sales clerk helped my buy the SIM card. He also said that he would do the porting of the number ..802 number to the new SIM card with a number ending with ..118.  He said it would take 7-8 days to take effect. It has been 9 nine days and the number still ends with ...118. He said I would receive a SMS when the port has been completed. Can you please help me understand where in the port process we are ?

Kind regards,

Spottie

Dear Spottie,

I regret to inform you, that I have no insight into your prepaid-SIM card conditions as of yet. Please ask your sales clerk for further information. It might be helpful to change your stated phone number within your profile in this forum, as soon as the porting process is completed, so that we are able to help you with pre-paid issues in the future. ☺️

Kind regards,
Ubbine

Hi Ubbine,

Thanks for the reply. I will have two numbers, one prepaid and one contract based.

It is unfortunate that you can't help in this instance. Going ot the o2 store usually means queuing for 30 or more minutes to see a sales clerk, and sometimes the quality of advice is dependent on which sales clerk you are lucky enough to see.

Kind regards,

Spottie

Hi Ubbine,

Also it isn't clear how to manually add the prepaid SIM number to the profile. In any case I would hope that it would change to the 802 number soon, and I think that number is already visible; yes ?

Kind regards,

Rocco

Log in with your prepaid number in the portal "my o2" and instruct there to take the phone number of your term contract, you may also use the following link https:///external-link.jspa?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.o2.de%2Fmein-tarif%2Frufnummer-mitnehmen

Thanks. I will give those instructions a try.

Hi Ubbine,

I logged in with the prepaid SIM number. I have decided to try and do the port myself with the link that you provided, as my prepaid SIM number has not ported to the number ending with 802 yet.

However when I click the following link:

https:///external-link.jspa?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.o2.de%2Fmein-tarif%2Frufnummer-mitnehmen

I am taken back to the account overview page Übersicht page. The same things occurs when I use the link that Sächsen suggested.

 https:///external-link.jspa?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.o2.de%2Fmein-tarif%2Frufnummer-mitnehmen

I have accumulated many hours on this task, over the month, and I am finding it frustrating. Can you please help ?

Kind regards,

Spottie

Hello O2 Experts,

I have completed all the advice, and I still don't have the old number ported to my new SIM. I have paid O2 for the SIM and have spent many hours on this task. I am close to giving up on O2 and approaching a competitor for a pre-paid SIM.

It shouldn't be so difficult.

Kind regards,

Spottie

Try this: https://www.o2online.de/ecare-prepaid/mnp

Thanks TBCMagic,

That link at least brought me to a page where I could enter the details for the port.

It stated that it was successful. I hope the effect of the port happens sooner rather than later ( I am not sure how long it takes to take effect), so that I know that the saga is over.

Thanks again.

Hi @Spottie2,

i just made the order to port your number (with -802 ending) to your new prepaid-card ✅ The transfer will be expected on June, 13th. Now everything should work out fine 😉

Kindly, Jelena

Thanks Jelena. Much appreciated

Hi Jessica,

I got a notification of the message you wrote on the other thread.

---

Hello Spottie2,

can you please explain your concern step by step?

I didn't really get the whole situation.

Do you want to port the o2 prepaid number to a new contract?

What's the status right now?

Kind regards,

Jessica

--

My  old number is now ported to my prepaid SIM card.  That is what I wanted. I could not reply on the thread that you posted as that number no longer belongs to me.

So my number ending with 802 has been ported to my prepaid SIM and that is what I want. Thanks for your help and that of others. ☺️  There is nothing left to do.

Kind regards,

Spottie/Spottie2 ( I had to repeat the post using the prepaid SIM number so that all the details of that SIM could be visible)

Thank you for your feedback! ☺️

But now you are a professional in mobile number porting, right? 😀
